Self-assembly

Trying to find a decent desk that doesn’t cost the earth. Everything even remotely reasonable is self-assembly. I don’t remember my parents having to make their own furniture years ago so why are we expected to now?

If I’m paying £300 for an item AIBU to expect it to come in one piece? If I’d wanted to be a carpenter I’d have trained as one. 🤬

I imagine it keeps costs and environmental impact (with regard to the shipping) down. If you don’t mind paying extra I imagine you would fine someone happy to build it for you.

Yes, I can pay someone to build it for me. I could build it myself if I wanted to. I just don’t see why I should have to make my own furniture tbh. Especially if I’m already paying several hundred pounds for the privilege.

Second-Hand shops! Go on, have a look. Most of my furniture comes from there.
