To ask for your experience of night weaning a toddler?

DS is nearly 16 months old. He sleeps in bed with me and still wakes in the night for milk. Some nights are ok - 2 quick feeds and back to sleep. Some nights are worse and he will wake 6+ times.
We were going to wait until he was a little older but I’m thinking now that the benefits of us all getting a good night’s sleep will outweigh the cons of any kind of sleep training!
So what did you do? Did it work or not and how old was your child?
We were thinking simply of DH swapping with me for a few nights and trying to settle him back to sleep without bfing in the hope that it would be that simple!

Is he eating enough in the day? I found with my daughter she slept through after eating a lot in the day.

Some days more than others but it doesn’t seem to make a difference to his sleep. He’s eaten loads this week and still wakes.

My youngest two got bored of it on their own but my eldest was a massive comfort feeder, all night whenever he woke up he'd use feeding to go back to sleep. We began weaning when he was one by saying he could only feed when we were at home. Then we started restricting more but the night feeds were really a struggle. Eventually we went for one feed before bed and one in the morning (by this point he was old enough to understand). The really difficult feed to get rid of was the last before bed because he couldn't go to sleep without it. it would take hi an hour or more but eventually he got it.

Thanks. Luckily, DH can put DS down without him feeding to sleep!
