To consider it mine now?

Monday evening I found a Tesco delivery crate by the side of the road, complete with shopping in it.

I phoned Tesco and ended up speaking to their helpdesk in Dundee (I think) and explained that I had the crate, the name and numbers on the side, listed the shopping it contained, and asked what to do with it? They phoned back once they had worked out which store the delivery was from, but said that because the home delivery team had finished for the day that they would need to call back on Tuesday to resolve what to do with it.

It's now Friday, and apart from the original callback, I have heard nothing from them. AIBU to think I've done my bit, and if they don't want to collect it then its now mine?

I would continue to ignore it, but amongst other things there are some nice biscuits which are calling to me to be eaten.

What do you think the universe is telling you OP? Hydrate and clean?

I wonder whether that customer ordered bread/milk/meat/veg that did get delivered? Otherwise that was a bit of a strange order.

@Testing
The sticker on the crate has a number followed by - 6, so I'm guessing this was crate 6 of their order

Ooh it's like an alternative shopping list thread.

Where are the bread, milk, fruit, veg? Could they be getting all that fresh from the naice farm shop and this is just their 'heavy and boring' staple non perishables?

They won’t want them back, they cant leave food in someone’s possession and then reuse it, you may have sabotaged it. I would keep the food —and enjoy it— but leave the crate in the garage for collection. If they don’t collect it, i would dump it in the trolley shelter at Tesco.

When my kids were younger and couldn’t read properly they used to call these lesbian biscuits. We still call them lesbian biscuits as a family and we are absolutely not homophobic honestly!

Pity it wasn't the wine crate.

KittensAndCake · 15/02/2019 19:40

So wonder how the crate got there?? 🤔

FriarTuck · 15/02/2019 20:11

You're eating someone's Brexit stash!!!!

Guineapiglet345 · 15/02/2019 21:44

Enjoy, Tesco won’t want it back, they’re lucky you we’re so honest in the first place!

I once got a wrong crate from Ocado, I got 2 x big tubs of expensive ice cream, posh fish fingers and a bag of ice - someone else must have got my value fish cakes and frozen peas, I did not ring to tell them Grin
