I'd like to go to sleep and wake up in 2022 then I can retireGrin

2ellenor2 · 15/02/2019 00:55

Nope. I’m due a baby this month, don’t wanna miss that! Saying that, I am so exhausted that I probably could sleep until April

BartonHollow · 15/02/2019 00:56

Yes I am gearing up to help man The Nights Watch so the mad MNers who will watch it at broadcast, so 2am in this country if you are up for it OP?

siriuslysirius · 15/02/2019 01:02

@BartonHollow I will most definitely be watching it soon as it shows, can't risk seeing the spoilers on social media. Too excited so many theory's running through my brain. Although I still haven't completely gotten over Ned stark being beheaded, my heart hurts when I think about it

BartonHollow · 15/02/2019 01:06

Oh I knew that was coming as I went Book first.

I have the same issue, if I wanted to go unspoiled I'd literally have to switch my phone off for 18 hours, not doable.

siriuslysirius · 15/02/2019 01:13

@BartonHollow I didn't even watch the show till last year, but became totally obsessed once I did. My partner bought me the books as part of my Christmas isn't there so much more to the storylines in them? Yeah there's no way I can avoid finding things out so easier to just wake up and watch it, my 5 month old son still doesn't sleep through so I'll probably be up anyway!

WarpedGalaxy · 15/02/2019 01:16

Congrats siriuskysirius and you’re right it’s probably best you stay awake for the first few weeks of your newborn’s life!

I don’t want to sleep the wait away either, sorry OP, no baby in the offing (unless one of the dc has something they haven’t been telling me) but I do need the time from now to then to finish rewatching seasons 1-7 so we (well, mostly DH who hasn’t read the books) can refresh our memories as to who’s who, where and doing what. We’re about half way through season 4 right now. Plus we’ve got a few social events we’ve been looking forward to coming up over the next few weeks, so they’ll help us grin and bear the agonizing wait for closure.

BartonHollow · 15/02/2019 01:19

@siriuslysirius

They start making small / subtle changes from the books from Season 2 onwards but I bought the books for someone I introduced the show to and she said reading the first book made the backstory to Robert being King so much easier to comprehend

siriuslysirius · 15/02/2019 01:19

@WarpedGalaxy I'm currently watching them all again too, figure it's the best I can do since I can't sleep till then. I do think if I had the opportunity to sleep that long I probably could as I'm exhausted with a baby and a 3 year old! Plenty to look forward to so best to just get on with it and enjoy my game of thrones each night!

OP posts:
siriuslysirius · 15/02/2019 01:23

@BartonHollow yes I noticed that! So many things seem to make much more sense now I've read some of the books, especially the first book. I was quite surprised at the main characters who hated/didn't trust other main characters and the background into that, which didn't always come across in the programmes.

OP posts:
BartonHollow · 15/02/2019 01:32

I also think the show doesn't properly explain Viserys and Daenerys and why they are were they are, and what claim they have to the throne and why marrying Drogo is important

And what is explained about Jon in Book 1 is really important too.

siriuslysirius · 15/02/2019 01:38

@BartonHollow yes I agree,so many important things were actually left out, it's weird for me because I'm reading the books after watching the TV shows. Keep telling my partner reason why certain things from show make sense based on a paragraph out of the book . Even I'm getting confused. I could kick myself for not reading the books first. The trailer for the new season is garbage doesn't give anything away, all just speculation but I feel like they're having people speculate about Jon so other main characters are forgotten about

OP posts:
BartonHollow · 15/02/2019 01:44

I heartily recommend the videos of the channel Alt Shift X he does really concise easy to understand explanations of stuff based off the books including the history book

Example :

siriuslysirius · 15/02/2019 01:51

@BartonHallow thank you I'll have a look. I don't think it was such a good idea to start reading the books with a newborn and a 3 year old that kept picking books up and losing my pages, he's now 5 months but the 3 year old is still picking it up and losing my page every time I try to have a read so I'm trying to make use of school hours and babies naptimes . So many theories for new season though even with my lack of understanding and I'm so excited for it!

mojitogirl18 · 15/02/2019 02:06

Was Daenerys not forced to marry drogo so viseron could have an army to take back the throne but was double crossed by drogo then later murdered?

BartonHollow · 15/02/2019 02:20

I mean that was Viserys plan but Drogo was never going to honour it, he didn't so much double cross him as murder him for assaulting his wife, and repeatedly making a pain in the arse of himself.
