Am I overthinking?

Quite fancy new colleague. He’s in a senior role to me and we’re doing the same piece of work together... This morning he checked in about a work issue after a (very) late night spent doing work with rest of team... he asked if I’d got home ok after. Is this just standard small talk and am I overthinking that it might mean anything? Probably

Standard small talk I think. Unless there's been anything else he's just being nice. Are you both single?

Honeyroar · 15/02/2019 00:32

I'd think that it was a polite thing to ask. Just small talk.

pigsDOfly · 15/02/2019 00:33

Yes, you're overthinking it.

MyKingdomForBrie · 15/02/2019 00:35

Without any other info you're overthinking. You might be getting a flirty vibe that the mere words don't reflect though?

NorthernBirdAtHeart · 15/02/2019 01:43

YABU to read anything more into that than a colleague checking another is ok.

TC07 · 15/02/2019 01:48

I often check colleagues and friends have got home OK after a night out. No one seems to check if I get home though haha!

I'm 50/50, he could be that type of person or he could have a thing for you. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Don’t shag your senior at work - it’s such a cliche and will damage your professional reputation. Shag an equal!

Just small talk, that's all. My advice is to just enjoy the scenery.
