To think this website is a rip off

My dp handyman recently joined one of those sites where tradesmen advertise thier services.
He paid £36 for 3 month membership and the idea is that they send you job leads that customers gave posted and if he is interested in the work he can contact them.
However since he paid this money they have barely sent any leads and if he does get one the customer never responds anyway.
We are really upset as we are struggling financially and this was alot to us.
I emailed them but no answer as yet.

You are not unreasonable to be upset, but you can't really blame the advertising platform for a lack of interest in the advert, and you definitely can't blame them for customers not responding.

How long has the as been on there? It may just be that it's a quiet time of year, as it is for a lot of industries, and things will pick up in the next couple of months.

It's just a lead generation site which then needs to be backed up with material to try to convert the lead into a sale.

Does he have a website showing a portfolio of work along with positive reviews to help with the conversion.

How is he showing on the site when you search? What's the competition like for people providing similar services?

Does the site he's using appear high up in the rankings when you google for tradesmen? i.e. trustedtrader, ratedpeople etc. are all well ranked.

Tried to put everything onto the ad pictures of his work and about his experience etc.
There was more leads coming before he paid but thry seem to have almost stopped since they took the money

Dp uses these and is inundated with work, he’s turning work away all the time, I think his waiting list is about 9-12 months at the moment. So they do work.

Does your dp have a website? Whenever I'm searching for something and listings come up without a website I immediately dismiss them.

A facebook page is better than nothing but I still prefer to look at a proper website.
