To think people buy this sexist crap?

Saw these mugs today in QDs...

I find it insulting!

not every woman is occupied with lipstick and high heels.. the other mug had a hair dryer that said 'bad hair day' Hmm ... I built my daughter a cabin bed this week with no male help.. I'd quite like a mug that said 'if mum can't build it no one can' but clearly I can't have one because dad has a screwdriver and mum has a sodding stiletto!!

Aibu to think this is sexist crap and wonder if people actually buy this stuff?

You can buy mugs and print your own slogan on them (jokes)
Yes it's annoying as is all of the other tiny bits of every day sexism. Nothing to get worked up over but when you add them together they paint a bigger picture.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 13/02/2019 20:00

I’m quite handy with both a hair dryer and a screwdriver.

I don’t know what QDs is. Do they have form for this kind of tacky nonsense?

OftenHangry · 13/02/2019 20:00

Tbf they wouldn't be selling it if people weren't buying it 🤷‍♀️

blackteasplease · 13/02/2019 20:02

The Dad ones are cool in and of themselves. It's just the contrast and the fact they sell such different things for men and women that is disappointing.

beansontoastfortea · 13/02/2019 20:08

Agreed @blackteasplease they're ok in themselves for the dad ones... it's definitely the contrast

And yes it's all these little things that add up to a bigger problem

QDs is a full of crap yes lol www.qdstores.co.uk but good for pet food and plant pots

how hard is the cabin bed to build please as I am also the diyer in this house.

Main affair - I am the lipstick AND the power tools in this house so I guess I win ALL the mugs.

beansontoastfortea · 13/02/2019 20:17

But are you a dad @Harumphharagh 😂

Very easy actually I'll upload a pic! Costs about 110-200 depending on the wood thickness

No! Dad fail. I could just patch MUMMY on top of it. It is so sexist.

beansontoastfortea · 13/02/2019 20:18

I'm proud of it, I'm getting better with each project. Grin

Stupid bloody mugs

I've raised 2 kids single handed and had to do everything, my kids (Ds & Dd) know that women are much more capable than men 😁

IncrediblySadToo · 13/02/2019 22:06

There’s plenty of other shite out there about ‘mummy knows best’ type of crap on it.

They stock it because people buy it.

‍🤷🏻‍♀️

GreatWesternValkyrie · 13/02/2019 22:30

I was wondering why one mug had lipstick and a stapler on it.

Doh.
