am looking at theatre website. i want to buy tickets to take my 15 year old son to see a shakespeare play tthat he is doing for GCSE.

Tickets for under 16s are 25 pound.
tickets for 16-25 year olds are 5 pound.

wtf?

would it be unreasonable to buy him a 16-25 ticket and lie?
he's nearly 16 anyway!

despite the time their mother lied once about one of their ages. an event they are entirely oblivious too.

Why wouldn't you share your story with your children if you don't believe it is doing anything wrong? Why not teach them young they are entitled to not pay for something everyone else has to as long as they can justify it in their own heads.

Catsinthecupboard · 11/02/2019 23:38

For goodness sakes! Do it if you wish, but don't expect people to give you permission.

broken wing, I haven't told them as at the time they were all under 8 and I really don't think they'd have cared and now its 10 years later...and I still don't think they'd care, but if it makes you feel better, I shall sit them down later and tell them The Tale of When Mother Decieved The Zoo For Monetary Gain aka The Story of Your Short Arse Brother and The Animals.
They will immediately become delinquents who steal cars and shoplift and spend the rest of their teen years in borstal, i'm sure.

Why wouldn't you share your story with your children if you don't believe it is doing anything wrong?

Because they have a habit of dropping you in it if they're complicit?

Totaldogsbody · 12/02/2019 16:06

Admittedly think the theatre's probably need all the extra cash they can get, but the pricing policy seems a bit absurd paying more for say an 8yo than a 19yo, and to all those who are critising others for chancing their arm can you all honestly say you've never taken advantage of someone undercharging you in a shop/restaurant. May sound a bit bible thumping but " let those without sin cast the first stone".

Bignosenobum · 12/02/2019 16:45

oh god.

NunoGoncalves. Yippee!! I'm shrinking! I have lost about 3inches in five years! I'm counting the days till I can get in free!

pinkstripeycat · 12/02/2019 22:16

The poor people can’t afford to go anywhere. To get in to Colchester zoo it is very expensive and although the people who own Colchester zoo now do wonderful things for conservation they are very, very, very wealthy people and they weren’t always kind to their animals. Years ago when I was a child the cages were awful, the animals were in a shocking condition and conservation was the last thing on their minds. It’s only due to laws that they’ve had to change. They are wealthy because they charge a lot of money and along with a lot of people can no longer afford to go

MotherofDinosaurs · 12/02/2019 22:29

I'm a zoo thief! I pay my £120 a year membership which enables me to go as many times as I wish. I'm putting off paying double for my 3.5 year old for as long as I can get away with. And the best part is, as I'm a member and just stroll in, I don't have to LIE in front of the dear innocent little chap and RUIN his morals.

I also once accidentally nicked a multipack of toilet rolls from Sainsbury's by hanging it on that hook at the back of the trolley and forgetting til I got to the car. Suck on that, Mumsnet pearl clutchers!

OwlBeThere · 12/02/2019 23:01

be careful @motherofdinosaurs, he'll grow up morally bankcrupt and be murdering old ladies for their pension if you're not careful!

Bryjam · 12/02/2019 23:11

Surely the discount for 16-25 year olds is with ID of some description?

MrsTerryPratcett · 12/02/2019 23:14

@MotherofDinosaurs @OwlBeThere some people think you shouldn't lie and cheat people out of money even if there are no negative consequences to you and yours.

MotherofDinosaurs · 13/02/2019 12:27

@MrsTerryPratcett get over it babe

BrokenWing · 14/02/2019 22:46

@MrsTerryPratcett probably best to walk away from this one with your head held high. 💪🏻 You aren't going to convince anyone who blindly denies irrefutable facts, has no basic concept of the value their own integrity and wasnt raised not to leech off others. 👎🏻

ChinnyReckonn · 14/02/2019 23:01

Oh for goodness sake people, RTFT!! The OP has CLEARLY asked if it wbu to sneak her 15yo into the zoo, why are you all giving advice about student discounts??

merrybloomizoothief · 14/02/2019 23:13

GrinGrinGrin

CheshireChat · 14/02/2019 23:56

Sooo... Did you manage to sneak into the zoo, OP? Wink

DishingOutDone · 15/02/2019 00:57

Personally, I think OP would be better off giving up on the zoo idea entirely as its clearly contentious. Maybe take the lad to the theatre instead. Oh hang on .... Hmm

merrybloomizoothief · 15/02/2019 12:15

I borrowed a buggy and then madechim get out when reached the elephants ..
