In pain

RainbowMum11 · 09/02/2019 23:32

I have pain in the bottom left side of my abdomen (not the side of appendix) this evening - it's really painful and sharp, and a dull aching pain has spread down to my lower abdomen, just above the pelvic bone.
It's really painful, and it's come on in the past couple of hours - does anyone have any ideas?
I have the self administered contraceptive injection now so don't have periods, if that helps.

What are your bowels doing?

Aquamarine1029 · 09/02/2019 23:35

Perhaps you have a cyst on your ovary.

Norfolkenchancemate · 09/02/2019 23:39

Me and husband both had same, separately, in last three weeks, then started the D&V, I think it's a bug.

WinterfellWench · 09/02/2019 23:41

I REALLY hope it's wind - or the shits!

If it is still bad in the morning, pop to A & E.

Should be quiet on a Sunday morning.

Go to bed now, and get some rest and sleep (if you can.

Good luck! Smile Flowers

Simple question...

Have you had a good shit in the last couple days? If not, it could be, you need to have a good 💩.

I have installed and get days where, when I haven't had a good poop, I get a pain roughly where.youre saying.

I find, if I sit on the toilet and try to relax (when I get that feeling I need to go) and sit until I've gone.....

For me (shhh 🤫) I have to burp n burp n burp, until some of the pain subsides, then push to fart n fart. Once I get the urge to push (I know I shouldn't) I push with all my might (push n hold, push n hold .. sort of thing) until I feel it start to move... Then I give little pushes to encourage it out! lol

Sometimes I can be on the toilet for 30/45 mins.... Still better than the soaps 😜

I know some will now tell me.off, but I can have a couple fags, while I'm there. It helps me relax, and takes my mind off of pushing etc!

If after pooping, you still finding you're getting the pain, go see your Dr.

Now, just to contradict what I just said...

It is normal to not go everyday, not everyone does, it's whatever YOUR routine is. If that routine is broken by more.than 3 days, either (like.me.also..) take a bullet, and shove up your bum! Yep, a suppository (prescribed for me) if.you get the urgento go, but aren't, use a bullet (it fills your bum with liquid to help flush out whatever is there! You'll find APPROX 15-20 (sometimes 30) mins later, you'll get a very strong urge to.go.... go go.go! lol

I try to stay away from laxatives, as for.me, they make me too loose, and I have accidents 😉 (oh the joys of ibs and spinal.imjiries).

I wouldn't be too worried about the pain, as I said.i get something similar often.

Thanks for the replies - I have been to the toilet twice today so don't necessarily think it's bowels,
It is really unusual and very painful though .

I really hope it isn't the start of a D&V big either - fingers crossed it will settle overnight!

If it's very painful then call 111 for their advice, they may arrange ooh gp appointment or advise trip to a and e. As you can see from replies it could be many things, some harmless, some less so. Better to be safe than sorry :) abdominal pain is complicated and not always easy to diagnose (definitely not over the Internet!) I've had similar pain from a burst ovarian cyst and from a bowel obstruction, both have needed hospitalisation for a number of days.

Piehunter · 10/02/2019 00:31

Also, go with your gut instinct, your description of it feeling unusual concerns me slightly.. I have chronic abdominal issues and for me anything that doesn't feel right, I get checked out, I've never not been admitted. We know our bodies better than we give ourselves credit for!

BeanTownNancy · 10/02/2019 00:35

I had a stabby abdominal pain myself last year - needed emergency surgery, so I'm pretty paranoid about these things. Get checked out if it still hurts tomorrow especially if it "just feels wrong" because mine did.

TheSmallAssassin · 10/02/2019 00:44

Could it be trapped wind? Get down all fours, then drop your front end down so your bum's in the air and wiggle it about to see if it helps. If not, as others say, try 111, they're there to help!

OneStepSideways · 10/02/2019 07:51

Ovulation pain or ectopic pregnancy? Unlikely if you're on the depot injection but not impossible. Have you done a test? Or an ovarian cyst, you can get simple cysts that rupture and cause this sort of pain (no treatment needed as they resolve naturally) or complex cysts like those that accompany endometriosis. Complex cysts can be really really painful and count for quite a lot of A&E admissions. They don't always show up on ultrasound but a big one rupturing can cause free fluid in the abdomen which shows on a scan or X-ray. Endometrioma cysts can bleed into an ovary or cause it to twist. Keyhole surgery is usually recommended, if the blood supply to the ovary is compromised it's classed as an emergency.

Does it hurt when you cough/move/walk? Do you feel dizzy/faint? Any vaginal bleeding? Is the pain bad enough to wake you up? If any of the above I'd go to A&E or an out of hours GP to get it checked out.

DerelictWreck · 10/02/2019 08:11

Sounds like ovarian cysts to me - at least that's how mine started.

IAmNotAWitch · 10/02/2019 08:15

Another vote for ovarian cyst. Get it checked. The fuckers can cause all sorts of trouble.

RainbowMum11 · 10/02/2019 10:25

Crumbs, ok - the pain is still there this morning, will make a GP appointment in the morning if it's still bad.
Thanks all.

Does it go in cycles?

Toomuchgoingon · 10/02/2019 10:36

I had similar. In my case, it's an ovarian cyst. Saw GP and he sent me off for a scan to diagnose

Houseonahill · 10/02/2019 10:41

If it's bad go to AnE, my mum had this is December, thought it was nothing because the pain was the "wrong" side, the pain then settled lower down as you describe. She ended up having emergency surgery for a burst appendix. Please get it checked out appendicitis can be very serious.
