"Quick run to avoid dinner with kids" - would you post this on social media?

Saw someone (with 80,000+ IG followers) post this this evening. Pretty shocked. I know all parents need a break at times, but to phrase it like this on social media just seems wrong on so many levels.

Edit: the title should read " Quick run to avoid dinner time with kids".

Presumably tongue in cheek? I don't mind dinner time but I'd happily and shamelessly arrange an activity that meant missing bedtime.

helpamamaout · 09/02/2019 21:37

There was no exclamation mark or emoji etc to suggest it was tongue in cheek

I’d post it - I would like to think people know I am a pretty decent parent, adore my child, but that sometimes I just need to get out on my own..... I don’t think there’s anything that shocking in what she’s posted Confused

Duckshead · 09/02/2019 21:38

Shocked? Blimey!

Seaseasea · 09/02/2019 21:38

Very very strange. I avoid running by eating dinner.

Bluntness100 · 09/02/2019 21:38

I'm not sure of the issue, I'd sssume they theought they were being funny, but we have all had times our kids drive us nuts.

What's your angst all about?

superking · 09/02/2019 21:39

I thought it was quite funny actually, and you must be pretty joyless to be "shocked" by it Hmm

WorraLiberty · 09/02/2019 21:39

Jesus, so what?

Pretty shocked why? Confused

sittingonacornflake · 09/02/2019 21:40

@Seaseasea Grin

Catscratchclub · 09/02/2019 21:40

seasea actually, that’s a really good point! If I posted that my friends would think I was signalling for help as I’d been kidnapped..... running?! Nothings that bad is it?! Poor woman must of been driven demented at home to even consider if!

notacooldad · 09/02/2019 21:40

I'd take it as a toungue in cheek comment.
When the boys were very young I hated tea time. They were tired and cranky and it was just awful!

OhDearHowSadNeverMind · 09/02/2019 21:42

Struggling to see the issue here. Are you generally quite humourless OP?

fusioluxe · 09/02/2019 21:43

So who is feeding the kids?

Bluntness100 · 09/02/2019 21:43

There was no exclamation mark or emoji etc to suggest it was tongue in cheek

And you need one?

fusioluxe · 09/02/2019 21:44

Seaseasea Quick dinner with the kids to avoid running Grin

WorraLiberty · 09/02/2019 21:45

Oh wait, there was no exclamation mark or emoji??

Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock

Call Child Services on the evil lycra clad bitch!

Bluntness100 · 09/02/2019 21:45

So who is feeding the kids

What because that's mums job? Hmm

Dad, gran, grandparent, what does it matter?

ItsAllGone19 · 09/02/2019 21:46

So who is feeding the kids?

Presumably the other parent. My husband cooks the kids dinner more often than I do.

lastqueenofscotland · 09/02/2019 21:47

God you’d be shocked at the some of the stuff my friends post. They adore their children but HATE Lego land/balloons/Santa’s grottos etc and post some really hilarious stuff about it.

I assume the children aren’t being left unsupervised while shock horror, someone does some exercise

OMGithurts · 09/02/2019 21:47

If I could get away with chucking some nuggets and oven chips on the kitchen floor and leaving them to it I can't promise I wouldn't consider it

Wink

^^winky face just in case anyone doesn't realise the above comment was tongue in cheek

MaryBoBary · 09/02/2019 21:48

Maybe they weren’t being funny. Maybe they were just being honest. I am not ashamed to say that sometimes I do this too, and why the fuck shouldn’t I wen mealtimes can be an absolute battleground and so draining. Why shouldn’t their dad have to do it sometimes? Why is it so bad to admit that sometimes you need a break and some time to yourself?

CostaLotta · 09/02/2019 21:48

Dinner time is one of the worst parts of my day. Would gladly run to avoid it, less likely to admit that on social media 🤣

Bluntness100 · 09/02/2019 21:48

Is this someone you don't like op, and you're just looking for a reason and making yourself look a bit of a twat in the process, or is it all women you judge?

Viggooooh · 09/02/2019 21:51

@fusioluxe 😂😂
