"Quick run to avoid dinner with kids" - would you post this on social media?

Saw someone (with 80,000+ IG followers) post this this evening. Pretty shocked. I know all parents need a break at times, but to phrase it like this on social media just seems wrong on so many levels.

I don't blame them.
There's a chance I can get a long-ish run in this spring. Tempted to do it to get a sodding break.

helpamamaout · 09/02/2019 21:53

I wish mn had a poll function.

I find it interesting that everyone who has commented on the social media user's sex has assumed they are female. Quite a bit of assumption and judgement going on there..........yet I'm the one being made to wear tge judgeypants tonight!!

PresidentHump · 09/02/2019 21:54

Who was it? Would like to see so I can judge!

helpamamaout · 09/02/2019 21:54

*made out to be wearing the judgeypants tonight!

Not all of us like to gaze adoringly at our little cherubs all day long. I took mine to softplay this morning specifically so that I didn't have to play with them for a couple of hours.

MysweetAudrina · 09/02/2019 22:00

I get up out of my lovely warm bed at 6am every week day morning and drive to work to do a yoga class at 7am. One of the reasons i do this may be that fact that I do not have to do the mornings with the kids. One in particular is a pain to get out of bed and get ready.

FredFlinstoneMadeOfBones · 09/02/2019 22:01

I honestly think it was just a joke. Although to be fair I think we've all days when we're rather run in the horrible cold rain than battle the kids through a dinner time after battling them through an entire day.

I think knowing the background of this particular person is why I see it as off too. Likewise not knowing the background I can see why people would think nothing of it.

Bluntness100 · 09/02/2019 22:07

I find it interesting that everyone who has commented on the social media user's sex has assumed they are female

Aye, because there is sadly a small percentage of rhe female population who only like to go after other women. And everyone is assuming you're one of them, but please prove us wrong. Tell us who it was, because someone will be along shortly who will anyway.

Have you had a name change fail?

WitsEnding · 09/02/2019 22:11

Interesting that pp have assumed the runner is avoiding her/his kids, rather than avoiding food ... exercising to avoid overeating is not uncommon.

helpamamaout · 09/02/2019 22:12

I'd not mentioned the name at the start, so as to discuss the topic itself, not the individual specifically.

OMGithurts · 09/02/2019 22:13

Erm I made no such assumption thanks. But to be fair 90% of the time or more, it's the mother who has to come up with an excuse.to get out of the shitwork because she shoulders the burden.

WinterfellWench · 09/02/2019 22:13

I was glad when my 2 kids fucked off and left, so I could have my own bedroom (and actually sleep away from my cuntytwat husband's snoring,) and also a spare room for my DVDs, CDs. books, and 33 pairs of shoes.

Did I say that out loud? Blush

spinabifidamom · 09/02/2019 22:14

Are you friends with the poster or not? Why do I feel like you are not telling us something important?

WinterfellWench · 09/02/2019 22:15

The person you're on about IS a woman though - obviously.

That's why you're being judgy.

WarpedGalaxy · 09/02/2019 22:16

Doesn’t matter who posted it, it’s clearly tongue in cheek. Anyway don’t all parents sometimes need to go for a run/bath/down the pub/hide in the cupboard under the stairs to escape the kids otherwise we’d go stark staring mad and go after their tiny asses with a machete?*

  • there is no machete emoji on Mumsnet otherwise I would have totally inserted one. Please accept my assurances that this was pure exaggeration for effect and I never went after my dc with a machete or even seriously considered it - not even when they absolutely deserved it.
Sindragosan · 09/02/2019 22:16

I quite enjoy mealtimes because there is relative quiet when everyone is eating but I guess it depends on the family.

Getting everyone dressed and packed up for the day is a whole other matter, but even that wouldn't drive me to running Grin

MolyHolyGuacamole · 09/02/2019 22:17

'Would I post this on social media?' More importantly 'would I care that someone else did?'

Honestly don't get the obsession some people have with social media influencers, they have no impact on my daily life

WorraLiberty · 09/02/2019 22:17

I'd not mentioned the name at the start, so as to discuss the topic itself, not the individual specifically.

So why not discuss it then?

Can you tell us why you're shocked and exactly what you think is wrong with the post?

I actually just remembered that when Ds was a baby I joined a really expensive gym so I could put him in the crèche and go and eat cake on my own in the cafe.....

WinterfellWench · 09/02/2019 22:19

Wanna judge me too as a horrible cow OP? Wink

Fredthedancingdinosaur · 09/02/2019 22:19
