Gym v Dance

Sorry I couldn’t find a more appropriate thread. I have a 9 year old dd who loves dance and gym. She’s currently in a 3 hrs per week gym class, also does an acro dance class and a musical theatre class. The gym is one level up from recreational so a couple of competitions a year, she does flicks etc. Now she has been asked if she’d like to move up to an 8 hr a week class. With gym it’s pretty much now or never. On the other hand her dance teacher has invited her to her show team as long as she takes up ballet. This would mean a few (maybe 4) comps/displays per year. She doesn’t know what to do. I think her talent lies more in dance and the gym involves two 9 pm finishes which is really late. But I am worried she’ll regret not taking her gym to a better level. Does anyone have any thoughts/opinions?

I have a DC who does a lot of sport at high level and at long hours. And I'd say that they have to love what they're doing, so regardless of talent (and presumably she has some or she'd not be asked to go up), she has to do the one she loves the most. My DC still says the favourite day of the week is the day she does the most of her favourite sport. When you start to get into these long hours, it has to be something they really love, or they'll resent it.
