Vom watch

doodlejump1980 · 08/02/2019 19:04

Been up most of the night with 2 vomiting 4 year-olds. There have been no more pukes for 15 hours and no temps, eating and drinking fine. Everything that has gone in them has stayed in so far.
So two questions, if we were going to get it, would we have had it by now?
15 hours vom-free, how likely is it that there will be no more pukes from the boys?
I hate this! It’s more the paranoid anticipation that’s getting me. Argh!

I think if you've used good hygiene, which I'm sure you have, you should be fine Smile

It's unlikely that they'll pike again but if they were mine, I'd avoid big quantities of milk.

CoperCabana · 08/02/2019 19:07

There are no guarantees with vom watch. One DD pukes once and moves on. The other tends to make it a week long affair. I don’t think I have ever caught it off them. But my whole family were wiped out once by a niece with a cough. Good luck. I hate the anticipation and the reality is never as bad!

CouldBeAnyoneReally · 08/02/2019 19:10

If they were mine I’d feel safe after 15hrs. Could be a day or two before you or dh start though. Keep up with the bleaching! Sickness is the only time I get the bleach out.

PickAChew · 08/02/2019 19:14

This was Ds2 on Tuesday night.

DS1 succumbed yesterday and dh today. It can take a while.

My hands are raw from cleaning stuff and almost obsessive hand washing. I'll be bloody pissed off if it gets me.

Hope your LO's are on the mend, soon.

MotsDHeureGoussesRames · 08/02/2019 19:15

0 safety until 72 hrs are up. Also if it's noro it can hang around in poo for up to 2 weeks... so any poor handwashing means risk. If it's rotavirus (more probable) adults often escape this one or get a very mild version. Good luck OP!

doodlejump1980 · 08/02/2019 19:19

It’s just one end (touch wood) and no temps so probably not noro? Hands are raw from washing!

Can we have an update on the 🤮 Smile

PinkDaydreams · 09/02/2019 19:00

Both myself and little one started vomiting at same time, from about 2am yesterday morning. Little one last sick last night at 6pm, but he’s just been sick again Confused I was last sick late afternoon yesterday and feel much better now although not completely back to myself. It seems like it was a 24 hour bug. I just hope my little one gets better soon, I honestly thought the vomiting was over. Both of us today have loss of appetite.
Hope everyone gets better soon Flowers

JiltedJohnsJulie · 09/02/2019 19:32

Looking after a 🤮 LO when you're 🤮 yourself really isn't fun. Hope you both recover soon Thanks

AmIRightOrAMeringue · 09/02/2019 20:07

We've found most bugs to have up to a 48 hour incubation period...sorry! Good luck!!

PinkDaydreams · 10/02/2019 21:23

So after little one being sick last night shortly before 7pm (25 hours after last being sick), I thought he was over it. But, alas no, he’s just been sick again! Full bedding change, sleeping bag and pyjamas. Poor mite.

GloryforGloves · 10/02/2019 21:25

Sorry OP! I don’t think you are necessarily out of the woods yet. DS was sick last Friday - mine didn’t manifest until Mon (DH completely avoided it Envy). Hold fire another day and you should know one way or the other.

PinkDaydreams · 10/02/2019 21:30

Do you think I need to take my one year old to the gp?
I called 111 for him on Friday and they just said to keep hydrated, keep an eye on temp and be brutal with hand washing and disinfecting everything. He’s had one diarrhea poo this morning, one yesterday morning too but that’s it. He seems very happy in himself, temp is normal, but he has gone off his food. I’ve managed to get some food in him though.

SamBaileys · 10/02/2019 21:32

I'm a nursery nurse. I cuddled a toddler with d and v while waiting for her Mum to pick her up- this was last Wednesday, I had it on the Saturday.

BinkyBuntyFintyCunty · 10/02/2019 21:42

Hand hygiene etc is great but of no help if the bug is an airborne one. Prob safe to say you’re clear after about 72 hours if it hasn’t got you by then. As PP said, bug can remain in faeces for a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed.

doodlejump1980 · 10/02/2019 22:28

Thankfully all seems to be over. Last voms were 4am Friday morning, we’ve both managed to avoid it too. They’re both eating fine. Normal poos too. No temps. Hopefully just a short sharp burst! So we’re on 67 hours since last vom I think? Touch wood!

Aye, I get rid of all 3 {kids and dh} in the morning. Felt ropey, this evening, but simply had some codeine traffic jam to clear!

PinkDaydreams · 11/02/2019 08:03

My little one hasn’t been sick again through the night. Temp is fine, he’s good in himself too but this is how he was yesterday then was sick last night.
