To ask how to stop my shoes squeaking?

New pair of Timberlands (first pair ever!). Sooooo comfy, and - oh, joy - my orthotics fit Grin

But...

The orthotics squeak unbearably, unwearably, in them. Sad

The orthotics are rigid, prescription half-orthotics. Unchangeable. The shoe is fabric-lined, with leather at the heel. I've included a photo with the orthotic pulled forward, not in its normal position of hard up against the heel.

How can I stop the squeaking?

pay for them ( according to Granny folklore Grin)

failing that, talcum powder

My old mum used to say the same. "Shoes squeak until they have been paid for".
Presumably the meaning is that shoes bought on the "Never-Never" will be paid off in a few months-about the same time they will be worn and soft enough to stop squeaking.
The saying is not intended to imply that squeaking shoes have been stolen, or something!

LOL Grin Bought on 31st, so will squeak until February's credit card bill is paid off!

I'll try talc.

Bring them back. I bought a pair of trainers they squeaked, when I brought them the manager checked and replaced, he said it was a first to replace a squeaky shoe but a definite issue.

The shoes themselves aren't the problem. They don't squeak. I got dd to walk around in them without the orthotics (she has the same size feet as me) and they didn't make a sound.
