SPOILERS (just incase anyone is more behind than me)

I am behind on this as was watching it when i could so sorry for being late to the party!

Am i the only one who is extremely disappointed that not one women made the final?!

I actually turned it off, i had been so interested in it but just lost it all the minute i saw the finalists.

Now dont get me wrong, the overall winner (Alan Turing) was rightly deserved. But i find it hard to believe not one women was voted for.

I am not normally one who gets annoyed by these things, i always think the best person won. But this has really annoyed me!

So aibu?

I only watched the bits on the one show and your not wrong.
All the people chosen were amazing, but i was shocked that not one woman made it to the final bit.
Sad really as there have been so many,

No. I voted for Alan Turing - he was a worthy winner and can’t think of a woman who would have topped him

marvellousnightforamooncup · 07/02/2019 22:04

YANBU but the whole premise of the show annoyed me. It's like saying 'what's better, grapes or cathedrals?'

MummatoaMunchkin · 07/02/2019 22:11

I completely agree Alan Turing was a worthy winner if i had watched it on time i would have voted for him.

Your both right @Samcro and @marvellousnightforamooncup the premise of the show doesnt work. You cant have Bowie and Alan Turning against each other.

All of them were great in their own way and the differences they made. I just would have liked to see Marie Curie or Tami-Grey Thompson through (didnt think much of Marilyn Monroe and even Margret Thatcher!)

To be fair what Clare Balding said about the obstacles these women faced and that the 20th century was obviously not the best for allowing women to be pioneers helped in some way to quell my rage on this issue.

I was also disappointed but not surprised.

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 08/02/2019 10:29

@Modestandatinybitsexy there were definitely more obstacles for 20th century women pioneers, but that makes their achievements greater!

Modestandatinybitsexy · 08/02/2019 13:33

@AnnoyedByAlfieBear I agree but it doesn't necessarily make their contributions greater than the men's on an individual scale.

HoraceCope · 08/02/2019 13:35

I would also have voted for Alan Turing but it does seem a shame to be left with just one icon
