I'll start...

It's incredibly immature and irrational but there is a certain (fairly common) name I cannot stand purely because it's the name of both a girl who bullied me when I was young and DHs ex, who is difficult.

I literally hate any mention of this name and automatically dislike anyone with it (ok, not really but in my head for a few moments I do!).

Another less petty but more bizarre one is that I HATE the tops of bottle caps scraping on my nails. It makes me want to be sick. Shuddering thinking about it right now!

Anyone else got any weird/petty/irrational dislikes?

When people say call lunch “dinner”. I know it’s not wrong, I know dinner can mean either lunch or tea and in fact where I come from it does tend to mean lunch rather than tea so I don’t know WHY it annoys me so much, it just does! Also when people refer to their main meal as supper - it’s got fuck all to do with me but it just sounds so twee.

HalfBloodPrincess · 07/02/2019 15:02

Skins on apples.

Teenage boys going through puberty (looking at you, DS)

Dolls proms only coming in pink

HalfBloodPrincess · 07/02/2019 15:03

*prams

People who don’t proofread Blush

nornironrock · 07/02/2019 15:05

Absolutely the fingernails thing. Disgusting...

And feet. They're horrific. And even worse with painted nails. I am what comfortable socks were invented for. So I don't have to see the bloody things..

MyBreadIsEggy · 07/02/2019 15:06

When someone (be it DH, or either of my toddlers) sits right next to me on our enormous sofa and then fidgets Hmm FUCK OFF AND FIDGET OVER THERE!!!

CheddarIsNotTheOnlyCheese · 07/02/2019 15:08

Being forced to sign up for emails on any new website.
Dh screaming out every sneeze while bending over and touching his knees. (That rhymed). He once sneezed 5-6 times in a row so loudly that everyone stopped what they were doing so they could take in the full drama. He made a baby cry.

cheesenpickles · 07/02/2019 15:11

People who squeeze toothpaste in all the wrong places.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 07/02/2019 15:12

Tomato ketchup

Chewing gum, and anyone chewing it.

CruCru · 07/02/2019 15:13

People who come onto social media (here, FB etc) to ask what can help toothache. Realistically a dentist but other people seem to always say clove oil. Go and see a dentist. Random people on the internet won’t be able to help you.

newnameforthis7 · 07/02/2019 15:13

Anna Soubry. Her face gives me the rage. And her voice.

Jeremy Corbyn.

Charlotte Crosby.

Ferne McCann and her banal 'my life as a mum' bollox.

Stupid 'compare the meerkats.' They were cute and funny for the first few months, but I hate them now.

Katie Price.

All the Loose Women. Bin this awful programme yesterday FGS!

Men who sneeze REALLY loudly.

Bad drivers.

People trying to derail Brexit.

Barbarafromblackpool · 07/02/2019 15:14

Loads of these annoy me.

Catching my sleeve on a door handle.
Loud sneezing.
Wet cuffs.
Standing in a spot of wet in stockinged feet.
Wet loose hair catching on my hand.
Long nails, yes. So gross.

Impicciona · 07/02/2019 15:16

When one hand is wet and the other isn't and I have to dry the wet hand on a towel. The difference in texture of the towel between the wet hand and dry hand gives me rage so I always have to wet the second hand before I dry. Irrational and I have no idea where it came from.

I hate the term pudding for dessert because pudding is a particular TYPE of dessert. It makes me ragey when I see it on here.

ArchieStar · 07/02/2019 15:18

My clothes catching on doors/handles/etc.

When people call wardrobes “walldrobes” and chest of drawers “Chester drawers” JUST USE THE RIGHT WORDS.

Im normally quite laid back but those few things set me off.

Moneys2Tight2Mention · 07/02/2019 15:18

And feet. They're horrific. And even worse with painted nails.

I'm the complete opposite! Non-painted toenails gross me out!

BeanTownNancy · 07/02/2019 15:21

There's a woman at work? Who talks like this? Like halfway through a sentence? She puts her voice up at the end? So it sounds like? A string of questions?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 07/02/2019 15:21

Eating or drinking something that is not the flavour that I expect it to be. Even if it's a flavour that I would normally like. I'm not at all bothered if I don't know what flavour to expect, but if someone gave me a jelly sweet (for instance) and told me it was apple favour, and I bit into it to find it was lime flavour it would really annoy me.

WickedWitchInTheCupboard · 07/02/2019 15:22

He made a baby cry

Sorry but I'm howling at this Grin

not-quite-finished bottles/jars stuck back in the fridge (i'm looking at you DW)

"oh, but there's not enough in there for a glass of ribena/ketchup with my dinner"

so chuck it out?

"but then it's a waste!"

SO JUST USE THE LAST OF THIS STUFF, THEN A BIT OF THE NEW STUFF - IT'S NOT FUCKING DIFFICULT!!

UnleashTheBulsara · 07/02/2019 15:25

Blue food

It's not right nor natural

nornironrock · 07/02/2019 15:25

Worse than chester drawers, is the idiotic "draws". How can people seriously think this is correct?

People who drive at 40mph EVERYWHERE. Twats.

User383673 · 07/02/2019 15:27

I absolutely despise people saying ‘baby’ instead of ‘the baby’ or ‘my baby’. In a similar vein will instantly just anyone who says ‘our little family’ or calls their baby ‘little one’ or ‘LO’.

I know it’s irrational and mad but I hate it so much. I can’t even bring myself post on a thread where the OP has used these terms half the time.

MyBreadIsEggy · 07/02/2019 15:29

CheddarIsNot I used to be a dramatic bend-at-the-waist sneezer....until I did it when I was recovering from some cracked ribs. One spectacular sneeze, and the waist-bending caused a couple of my cracked ribs to break, and pierced my kidney in the process Confused A healthy dose of internal bleeding put a stop to my dramatic sneezing Blush

entersandman1 · 07/02/2019 15:32

The smell of banana skins
Having long finger nails - I cut them very short
Walking on spilt liquids in the kitchen and having wet socks
People who put "ing" on the ends of words which aren't a verb - like "I'm going gyming"
Calling lunch dinner and dinner tea
People saying "we was" or "there is some"
The word couch
The word posh
Hipsters and vegans
People putting things in the sink instead of the empty dishwasher
People leaving clothes all over the floor
People putting empty packets back into cupboards
Dogs licking my hands, I love dogs but I can't stand the damp feeling

reallybadidea · 07/02/2019 15:32

Being poked to get my attention (as in with a finger, not Facebook poking. Although come to think of it that is also very annoying). It makes me feel almost violent, I find it incredibly intrusive.

LottieLou90 · 07/02/2019 15:33

Cyclists riding on the road when there’s a cycle path on the pavement.

Cyclists riding side by side.

When my DH leaves a tray in the oven and I come in to find it smoking (I curse myself every time for not checking but FFS)

When people say ‘pacific’ instead of ‘specific’

Hedgehogs. Scare the hell out of me and I hate that.

Probably lots more but all I can think of right now.
