To ask you to share your weird, irrational, petty hatreds?

I'll start...

It's incredibly immature and irrational but there is a certain (fairly common) name I cannot stand purely because it's the name of both a girl who bullied me when I was young and DHs ex, who is difficult.

I literally hate any mention of this name and automatically dislike anyone with it (ok, not really but in my head for a few moments I do!).

Another less petty but more bizarre one is that I HATE the tops of bottle caps scraping on my nails. It makes me want to be sick. Shuddering thinking about it right now!

Anyone else got any weird/petty/irrational dislikes?

People who ride recumbent bicycles. It is quite a niche hatred. I admit I haven't read all 700 previous messages, so I apologise if it's been done to death .

Absolutely brillliant @StopMakingAFoolOutofMe! Love how not only do some of the initial responders fail to detect the OP's sarcasm, but even after she blatantly states that's it's a wind up (pun intended) they just keep going! 🙈

Can I add 'anyone so eager to jump on their high horse that they vault straight over the glaring sarcasm and humour in their way and fall off the other side' to my list?

People who yawn loudly.

Bad spelling and apostrophe use
Incorrect cutlery handling and bad table manners

Windy days. Blows my hair across my face and makes me so angry. More than it should 😤
Slow shufflers in the supermarket/shopping mall. I'm often in a hurry and don't have the patience to shuffle behind you.
Slow drivers too.
Adverts for clothes modelled on larger women. Sorry to all those wearing size 16+ but it does not make me want to buy those items. I feel like it is normalising being overweight.

People who wash up and leave the water in the sink 'for later. Its grim.
Crap coffee.
Prosecco. Fair enough drink it if you like it but why is it such a big deal? It is nothing special.
When you put a lid down on the worktop and it spins and spins and spins. I have to stop it.
Noisy tv adverts. They are always so much louder than the show.
Low winter sunshine.
Smoking - especially outside a building I want to enter
Other people's children on facebook/Instagram. They are only slightly interesting to your friends.

Kirsten Dunst's face. It just rubs me the wrong way. In fact, I want to punch it.

I hate a very high percentage of all the things mentioned above (noisy eating being up there)

People who yawn when they’re trying to tell you something.

Yoghurt pots. I'm innocent as yoghurt exceeds my lactose tolerance threshold. The other bastarding members of my household leave their yogurt pots around. By the time I find them, the leftover yoghurt is crusting around the edges so they are too dirty for the recycling box. Mildly forgivable in my 5yo, but DH doesn't leave enough time for breakfast, scoffs the yoghurt and swans out leaving the fecking lid half hanging off the top which needs to go in a seperate bin to the sodding pot.

He does bring me joy in many other ways so its not LTB territory, but strewth, the yoghurt pots are annoying.

I'm loving this thread and agree with so much. I have many petty hates and the list gets longer every year!!

People writing/saying "Are" when they mean "Our"
Incorrect pronunciation of words e.g. mischiev"I"ous, somethinK, nothinK, anythinK.
"Chester Draws"...really?! Did you go to school?!
Noisy/loud people
Inconsiderate people
Most of society
People who don't bother to recycle
Stepping in water and getting my sock wet
People constantly talking about how they are "being good" by not eating crisps or chocolate etc. Shut the fuck up!
Children who are allowed to run or scoot, around shops. That's what parks are for!
Brexit. Fucking Brexit.
Conjoined words or names e.g. Brexit, Mansplain, Jedward, Brangelina. I think people who make up these words are Funts!! 🤔 Oops!!
The fact that, for years, I have had to fill in my eyebrows EVERYDAY because I over plucked them when I was a teenager!
People who constantly say "s/he turned round and said..."
Getting the words There, Their and They're, mixed up. Also the words Your and You're
