To get excited about a new bin

How sad am I Grin to get excited by a new kitchen bin? It's a sensor one so no excuses for not opening it properly.
Even more sad is it's a stainless steel and black one (which I knew) but the protective film it is wrapped in is the exact colour of our walls (which I didn't know) so now I want to keep that on it. Wonder how long that will last Hmm

YANBU. That sounds very exciting and the sort of thing I'd be thrilled with. Wink

TheyGotMyName · 07/02/2019 13:04

Nope YANBU.....I call it adulting... getting excited about boring shit... new appliances, wall paper, random household objects etc all the things youd think was so boring as a child and would never understand why mum was so made receiving a new set of serving spoons or pack of new tea towels Grin

userschmoozer · 07/02/2019 13:07

Yanbu. Aren't you going to post a photo? Its not a proper gloat without a pic.
I always leave the film on things and DF always try to peel them off in the most annoying dramatic way possible. Bastards.

LoniceraJaponica · 07/02/2019 13:07

I got one as well. It has 3 compartments so I can use it for recycling. The kitchen will look so much tidier.

Mmmhmmm · 07/02/2019 13:09

I got excited to receive my new mop. 😂

AwkwardPaws27 · 07/02/2019 13:20

I recently got a white metal foot pedal bin and I'm still so chuffed with it. It's narrower than the previous bin so I don't bump in to it (it's in an awkward place, small kitchen) & it doesn't clash with the recycling bin I got from IKEA. Oh, and the lid stays closed unlike the previous one!

RevRichardWayneGaryWayne · 07/02/2019 13:26

YABU to leave the film on - I love peeling that stuff off whenever I get anything new! So Satisfying!

MrsScamander · 07/02/2019 13:27

I bought new wooden chopping boards yesterday and DP treated himself to a mortar and pestle.

YANBU, new household goods are always a treat 😁

JellyBears · 07/02/2019 13:38

Haha yup I was very excited when I bought my Joseph Joseph smart waste bin in the Black Friday sales.

thebabysmellsofpooagain · 07/02/2019 13:41

YADNBU!!!!!

My mum bought me a cordless hoover a few weeks back and I nearly shat myself with excitement!!! 😂😂😂😂

Let's see the bin then! 👍

sweeneytoddsrazor · 07/02/2019 13:53

So glad it's not just me that gets excited by these things. It really isn't as exciting as the all singing all dancing ones with separate waste and recycling drawers so probably doesn't merit a pic Blush

I was super excited about getting a Joseph Joseph totem bin. Then amazon delivered it with 3 large dents. I’m now waiting for them to collect it so I can get a refund. All that excitement for nothing Confused

lerrimknowyouretheyir · 07/02/2019 14:28

I’ve just bought some numbers for my wheelie bin, as well as the road name. Am also a bit excited about their imminent arrival.

WillowintheUK · 07/02/2019 14:36

Oh yes, my Joseph Joseph totem bin! I loved it then and I love it now. So good to have proper places to put all the recycling!

Jasmin82 · 07/02/2019 15:03

Considering that I'm bouncing round and excited about a vintage sewing machine that may not even work that I've just won on fleabay.... Nope, YADNBU

BeanTownNancy · 07/02/2019 15:26

I bought a salad spinner this week.
Can't wait to take that bad boy for a spin! 👌

entersandman1 · 07/02/2019 15:27

I've got quite a nice bin I bought a few years ago and every time I change the bin bag I think "ohh what a smart bin!" Sad I know!

Redglitter · 07/02/2019 15:37

I bought a metal compost bin for food waste. Its counter top size and matches my other kitchen accessories beautifully

As soon as it was unpacked and in place i sent a photo to my Mum Blush

Im sure it made her day 🙄

TheyGotMyName · 07/02/2019 18:02

I nearly shat myself with excitement!!!

🤣🤣🤣 read that while swugging tea....It's now all over my screen!!!

TheyGotMyName · 07/02/2019 18:03

Cheered me right up after reading dss interim report from school let's just give that a big fat 👎

Confusedbeetle · 07/02/2019 18:04

Oh, Joseph joseph kitchen sink bowl with a twist plug drainer hole. My OH now lets the dirty water out hip hip

rededucator · 08/02/2019 00:10

My other half bought a stainless steel bin that is two bins together. I said at over £100 it was too expensive but he knew I liked it. One is for general waste and the other for recycling. The buckets are removable so I just take the bucket outside and yup it straight into outdoor recycling bin (general waste bagged). I love it and take pride in cleaning it more than anything else in my house. I have been known to talk to it.

rededucator · 08/02/2019 00:14

I also cannot walk past my dunelm woolen duck egg tartan curtains (£65 but was expensive to us at the time and the bedroom was the first room we redecorated in our first home) without touching them and telling them how much I love them.

Singlenotsingle · 08/02/2019 00:20

I've got one of those bins, or it used to be. There's a plastic ring around the rim which holds the bin bag in place but mine fell in the bin and disappeared! And it needs new batteries for the lid, which it may or may not get .

Corneliusmurphy · 08/02/2019 00:35

YANBU! Today I got a new tumble dryer, it has a light in the drum and everything and was a Which Best Buy
