Ok so I fully expect to be told that IABU about this Grin . This post may be long and slightly windy, just so I dont drip feed.

My DH and I are saving as much as we can because we want to buy a new house next year. We decided that instead of going out to dinner, he will cook dinner and I'll make dessert.

I spent the whole morning baking from scratch an apple pie. It took so long because I had never made one before. I put it in the fridge and showed my DH the pie when he got home from work and he said he couldnt wait to try it. So the next day it was our anniversary so while he cooked dinner I got out the candles and a couple drinks.

Dinner was quite hearty and DH didnt feel like dessert afterwards but said he will have pie tomorrow. That's fine, I still had a piece and I thought it was pretty good!

So now onto the part where I'm a little bit annoyed. This apple pie has been sitting in the fridge for 5 days now and he either keeps forgetting to have some or doesnt feel like dessert. I took 2 slices into work for the girls in my area and he said jokingly "how come you're giving away my pie?".

So today he says he will take the pie into work but he forgets it. Again.

I just think it's a little rude to have not tried a little bit of it within 5 days?
Again, I'm probably just being petty.

Please be gentle with me Grin

He sat through the Titanic? @Waterbottle1999 ?

Bugger the pie, he obviously loves you a lot to endure that shit

Ha ha ha! We're the other way round. I'd have to be pinned to the sofa to watch it but DH quite likes it. It is indeed shite.

Jack....... come back!............. come back!............ Jack............

HollyWhisky I see what you mean. Food for me is definitely part of my "love language". I'm Italian so I wonder if it stems from that.

When my DH was trying to lose weight it was so hard not buying him his favourite snacks from Tesco. I managed though Grin

Jack ..... come back! ....come back ...... I've ... I've got some pie for you!

Oh, alright then!

And they lived appley ever after.

(Much better)

hellojason · 07/02/2019 13:26

Not sure I'd be eating a 5 day old apple pie either! He should have at least sampled the pie on the day or next day and you should have spelt it out that it mattered to you that he try some. Next time make something chocolatey!

BertrandRussell · 07/02/2019 13:28

Sorry- completely irrelevant, but how did it take you all morning to make an apple pie?

Well, I didnt buy enough apples for the filling so I had to run to the shops again, then I muddled up the pastry somehow so had to start again. Oh and I also had my 2 year old niece who wanted to "help"

You should have seen the kitchen afterwards, it looked like a bomb had hit it haha

I made a cake once that my family didn't touch (probably because I made 2 cakes and they preferred the other one). I was a little hurt that in 2 days they didn't even try my beautiful simnel cake, so I took it into the office where it disappeared in 1 hour which was gratifying. My family felt a bit hurt, but I told them you had your chance and it was much appreciated by my colleagues.

Apple pie is soooo boring, I’d be forgetting to eat it too. Hardly a celebration dessert. I’d be very disappointed

Either eat it yourself or bin it.....

Limensoda · 07/02/2019 13:48

No, it wouldn't annoy me. You make a pie and someone doesn't get round to eating it. Big deal.
I'd rather my dp didn't eat something if he didn't want it.
However,...if it bothers you that much you should have served it up every meal time since until he ate it.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 07/02/2019 13:49

I warn DH that if he leaves his piece of cake or pudding sitting about untouched then it's not going to still be there after a while as I will eat it and enjoy it.
What's the point of leaving something nice to go stale? Seems so pointless to me. And yet DH will still leave cake and then moan three days later that I've eaten it.
Trust me DH, by day 4 nobody will want that cake.

MissionItsPossible · 07/02/2019 13:54

"Husband, if you do not eat pie by 'X' day/time then I am going to eat/bin it, okay"?

Mayrhofen · 07/02/2019 13:54

So tonight you make dinner. Make it light, something that leaves him hungry like a salad and fish with no carbs. I bet he will eat your apple pie and custard then.

Mmmmbrekkie · 07/02/2019 13:56

5 days old?
You couldn’t pay me to eat that

What the fuck is going to kill you about a five day old apple pie that has been stored in the fridge?

Jesus why do some have you have to be SO dramatic.

I would have eaten the whole pie myself my now!

Fazackerley · 07/02/2019 14:04

I'm good at ignoring sell by dates but a five day old pie doesn't sound very appetising

bananamonkey · 07/02/2019 14:06

DH does this, he once kept a half empty packet of specific sweets I got him as a present sent from Australia for 2 years (!) before I chucked them. Now I give him fair warning and if he doesn’t eat it i do before it gets thrown out.

Justaboy · 07/02/2019 14:08

Would not have happened here, old JB loves his grub and given the chance - anyone elses;)

Waterbottle1999 · 07/02/2019 14:09

Kennehora sorry if I mistyped somewhere but he does like apple pie, we occasionally buy them from the shop. He just prefers snacking on chocolate

QuietContraryMary · 07/02/2019 14:15

Waterbottle1999 · 07/02/2019 14:23
