To have missed the news about Flickr? And to warn others who might have?

I just logged in today as I used Flickr as an online backup for my photos and apparently free accounts will now only hold 1000 photos and they will be deleting the oldest photos from people's accounts until they come under that number.

I'm sure they probably emailed me about it, but given that I only have a yahoo account to access Flickr, I never check it, so that's on me, but it's really annoying! I could upgrade my account and may well do, at least for the time being, but it would gall me to as their uploader is so clunky and the interface is annoying and it frustrates me that it doesn't de-dupe effectively so if I'm paying I want something slicker.

Did everyone else know about this? Does anyone have any recommendations for an alternative?

Yes I knew about it. It's been widely reported in various places online, a well as them sending many emails to account holders. Doesn't really affect me, I only really used my Flickr account for parkrun.

I had no idea either until I logged in the other day, same as you I only have a yahoo account for Flickr so never check it.

I have nearly 40,000 photos on there Shock

I’ve signed up to Pro for now as I didn’t want to lose anything, and it’s currently backing up all my photos from my Mac now too (they’re already backed up on an external hard drive but you can never have too many back ups!)

I’ll probably just stick with Pro unless I find something better.

thanks! I only had a few but I've saved them now!

Possible solution: Dropbox is very good and you can upload your pics from your phone automatically. Not sure of size limit tho as I have a paid account.

Google drive is also quite good and if you have the app you can upload the files from your computer just by having the app active in the background.

There is a limit but I haven’t hit it so far backing up my photos. I also have more than one account for different things.

Dropbox or ShareFile possibly

Thanks for the reminder. I hadn’t appreciated they would delete photos! I’m going to move them later. I learned the head way with hotmail.com getting rid of all my emails before about 5 years ago when it changed to outlook.
