Family WhatsApp

Started s WhatsApp group for the family a couple of years ago primarily so my cousin could keep us up to date with her family ancestry research and one of my brothers could cross reference stuff.
No one posts in it but will send separate messages. When I queried it it transpired 3 people won’t use it as my group includes in-laws! My brother objects to our sister-in-law, a perfectly nice woman who would like to know her children’s history being involved.
My cousin only wants ‘family’ in it. Are they being unreasonable?

What sad twats they must be to a) spend time researching family history* and b) be so petty over who is in a family WhatsApp group.

Kind of ironic that they're interested in knowing their ancestors, but won't share messages with living members of their family.

What do the in-laws partners think / say about the situation?

*Joke - I enjoy a bit of Ancestry myself!

We have one 'house family' group, one 'my siblings and DNs group' and one 'dh's parents, and siblings group.
There are lots of things that wouldn't get posted - say by my PiL, if it were a big group including all my family, or by one of my (adult) dns if it were a bigger group with dh's side of the family in it.
Not that they don't all get on, just that the group becomes too big - the notifications are annoying, and the 'banter' doesn't always translate to peope you've not known growing up.

We have one for oh, me and my mum. And one for oh, me, and both my parents.

I left the ones with my bro and sil and his mil and ex fil and her bro, because reasons. And my parents dont post to it, they just look at the photos.

Dont think ive got enough family of my own to make a huge fambly group Hmm
