To look at my child and cry with happiness

He's 4 the only child I have and honestly I look at him sometimes and well up thinking about how much I love him. Even on the shittiest day when he's been hard work and a typical 4 year old I tuck him in and watch him sleep and it really hits me how much I love him. I know I'm not being unreasonable but does anyone else get this, I could just squeeze him he's just amazing. I'm fairly certain nobody has ever loved anyone as much as I love him 😍

Yep, I feel like this about my 2 kids, there's no words to describe how much I love them both! They make my heart burst.

HostaFireAndIce · 05/02/2019 22:05

I went to peek in at yummy little DS2 when he was sleeping earlier this evening. It was apparent immediately from the smell that he had puked all over his bed. Fast asleep he was, with chunks of vomit in his hair. We had to wake him up and bath him. He sat there in the bath smiling and chatting away, splashing happily while I combed sick out of his hair. Love that little boy - even sick doesn't stop it Grin

FiveRedBricks · 05/02/2019 22:06

@thinkingcapon ... And I'd go through every moment of the 15 years of infertility all over again just to have my 20m old son!

Do sod off. Go be offended by a wet lettuce somewhere.

Arpafeelie · 05/02/2019 22:10

I don't get to tuck DS up or watch him sleep anymore, because he's 25 and has his own flat, but the feeling of delighted amazement that he is my son has never abated.

Lymphy · 05/02/2019 22:10

Five fifteen years oh my goodness, I’m beyond thrilled you got your babe!

Siameasy · 05/02/2019 22:12

Oh yes - I adore my DD (4). She is everything.

Lightheart · 05/02/2019 22:15

@FiveRedBricks so glad you have your child what a blessing!
@Arpafeelie have you read the book I'll love you forever ? I imagine I'll be like the mum in that when my boy is grown Grin

Yeah I get it. DD is my everything, even when she drives me potty.

How I feel about her makes me have a slight bit of sympathy with Gollum for his precccioussss and the Mumsnetter who was so moved she screamed at the Sistine chapel or whatever it was.

TokyoSushi · 05/02/2019 22:22

Yep, it's a survival tactic from them, they're so utterly gorgeous that even when they're being absolute sods you still love them beyond words!

MyKingdomForBrie · 05/02/2019 22:27

Oh god yes. I hate to tell you all this but my dd is the best one, sorry.. I regularly tear up just watching her, I have hours of film of her being just sweet and perfect and original (in my mind Grin) and after she's gone to bed I watch videos of her

I just want to squish my little ds all day, he's only 7mos at the moment.

Fruitbatdancer · 05/02/2019 22:28

I hear you, I have one who’s 4. I want to eat him. He is delicious. I tel him this. He says “Im not for eating mummy”
It makes me want to eat him even more.

FiveRedBricks · 05/02/2019 22:30

Thank you @Lightheart @Lymphy he's the best I could ever wish for too. He's utterly perfect, cheeky and today fell asleep on me for the first time in weeks when he was too worn out from saying the names of the dinosaurs on his poster over and over 😍 (only 4 dinosaurs but he's still my little Professor!)

TakemebacktoClifton · 05/02/2019 22:30

I know exactly how you feel. My DD giggled for the first time last week and I sobbed (happy tears). I didn’t realise a love like this existed.

Bouncingbelle · 05/02/2019 22:31

It took 8 years and one hellish pregnancy to bring DS into the world and every single day i feel thankful for his very being and how id live every day of it all again for this perfect child.
2 years in and im still waiting for that "gush" of love to come (a long nicu seperation may have caused issues) but he is simply the most beautiful, chilled, special, adorable child who has ever existed (in my eyes) and my heart just swells with pride every time i look at him. Sometimes i get distracted driving cos im looking at him in tbe rear view mirror and just thinking how beautiful he is BlushHe has turned my world from black and white to colour.

(He's not 'easy'. There are ongoing issues from his prematurity. But would i swap him for any other child? Never).

Clearthinking · 05/02/2019 22:31

Well said five x

Lizzie48 · 05/02/2019 22:31

It's heartbreaking for those who are struggling with infertility, but that's not a reason for everyone else to not speak about their children on a thread that's completely unrelated to fertility issues.

I agree with this. I've been through infertility, had the hurt of being told I'd never be able to have a baby. That was horrible, but I didn't begrudge others the joy their children gave them.

Now I've got 2 adopted DDs of 9 and 6, and I love watching them when their asleep and love the cuddles. There are really hard times, so it's important to treasure those precious moments of pure bliss and it's definitely not wrong to share them on a thread like this.

Arpafeelie · 05/02/2019 22:34

Light-heart, yes, I've read it and so has DS. He says he'll disown me if I ever do that!

Buddytheelf85 · 05/02/2019 22:35

This thread has been a lovely read for someone who’s pregnant for the first time and full of nerves and anxiety and anxiety about it all. You’ve made me feel so excited! Grin

3in4years · 05/02/2019 22:35

I get that when my 3 are in the bath together.

MostlyBoastly · 05/02/2019 22:37

It’s often at bedtime isn’t it? Do you think we’re programmed to get an oxytocin surge when they’re out of the way so we make more?

oldowlgirl · 05/02/2019 22:40

YANBU - I feel exactly the same about my 3 Op. Feel so lucky.

Butteredghost · 05/02/2019 22:45

Mine is just a baby so can't say how I'll feel in years to come, but he is (all babies are) just so damn cute! They look like little angels Halo

GetOffTheTableMabel · 05/02/2019 22:51

When dd1 was 2 years old she told me “I have lots of kisses in my feelings”. It remains the best thing anyone has ever said to me.

spudlet7 · 05/02/2019 22:55

I was reading this feeling all warm and gooey and then my 4 month old DS shat all over the duvet. Confused

MostlyBoastly · 05/02/2019 22:56

Mabel That is beautiful!
