Was in the job centre last week and they have a person who 'greets' you as you walk in and direct you to where you need to go.

Middle age white man has the job today.
Lady in front of me with a hijab approaches him and she asks where to go.
He replies 'it's upstairs, same as before.' She asks what he means (her English isn't the best) and he says 'Same place as you were this morning'

She says she hasn't bee here before, to which he replied 'oh, must have been another one then'

Hmm AIBU to think that's off? Another what exactly?

Not just off, blatantly racist.

Racist the way he said it, though the confusion could have been genuine. He should have said something more like "oh sorry, there was someone who looked like you in here earlier and I thought it was you".

Another person dressed similarly.....

And what has his middle aged white maleness got to do with anything...
