Last night I watched s bit of Live At The Apollo. Really enjoying it I found the kind as the jokes were genuinely funny without being vulgar for once. Don’t eknow the name of the comedian but he was Canadian.
Then he told a joke which I found really offensive .
‘I prefer women rented,

Sounds not slunds

EwItsAHooman · 05/02/2019 17:20

Some people like Mrs Brown's Boys, for Christ's sake!

I'm half convinced that Mrs Brown's Boys is an experiment being conducted by the BBC to see exactly how low they can set the bar and still call it entertainment.

The only person on the whole earth I know in real life who enjoys it is MIL. And she's a raging asshat 97% of the time so the BBC probably couldn't get any worse with their programming.

It's an Eddie Izzard joke, the whole point of it is that it doesn't make sense.

DitchyMcAbandonpants · 05/02/2019 17:34

Oh, it can be tasteless the other way round too:

Is part of one of his shows, he talks about bee keeping, moves on to coffee.

Bumblebee39 · 05/02/2019 17:43

@EwItsAHooman Grinmakes better sense now

This thread is funny too least!! It was grease on the butt or backside. If it was reversed I don’t think men would find it funny at all.
I like my men rented, grease on the backside and shove something up them. Oh yes.

You've got masculine culture nailed there OP. Indeed men famously abhor any humour about things being put into their anus; there never has been and never will be jokes of this nature on TV or in films, it just wouldn't be accepted.

I remember being down the pub in my early 20s with a big group of blokes, when one of the lads made a joke about gay sex- we all just tutted and left immediately; no one spoke to him again.

Really? I've watched some shows / been at the pub where they've made these kinds of jokes. Depending on the delivery and content, my friends and I have found them funny.

TornFromTheInside · 06/02/2019 01:07

It was sarcasm.

curiousierandcouriser · 06/02/2019 02:11

Ah! Missed that Blush

SlightlyPsychotic · 08/02/2019 16:09

I think some posters need a sense of humour. Jokes about women, men, race, culture, sex etc. They are funny to some and not to others. Not your cup of tea? don't listen to/watch it.

crispysausagerolls · 08/02/2019 17:23

I disagree I think men do find jokes about themselves very funny - they seem
To be more open to self-deprecating humour and jibes, and less touchy.

OnlyaMan · 08/02/2019 21:21

Modern comedy is a great deal more explicit and vulgar than it was in the old days-that is a truism. For right or wrong, that is the modern world.
To object to certain "crude" jokes because of a particular political/social viewpoint, opens the argument to "Mary Whitehouse".

Now that made me chortle. :o

Crockof · 08/02/2019 22:44

I didn't know MBB was a hang head in shame program. I honestly find it v funny.

Op joke not so much but I fear censorship and believe strongly in Evelyn Hall's 'I disagree with what you are saying but I will defend to the death your right to say it' (it's not Voltaire, pet peeve)

Guavaf1sh · 08/02/2019 22:51
