How much is too much

When it comes to jewellery??

I wear loads and just got more bracelets today.

DH commented ‘you’ve gone over jewellery how I am with tattoos!’

Is it too much?

Only posted an image of my bracelets because I don’t want to out myself showing all my jewels that I wear everyday...

But most days I wear:

  • earrings (more than one pair)
  • nose rings
  • 4 necklaces
  • 5 rings (want to get more)
  • 10 bracelets (maybe get more)
  • 1 anklet (want to get more)
  • 6 toe rings

For me that would be way too much and would look silly. But it might suit you, hard to say. Can't be practical though.

Confusedbeetle · 04/02/2019 15:19

I never wear any jewelry unless I am going out for the evening. toddler grandchildren and horses make it totally impractical. Anything more than one piercing in each ear is a turn off for me. Bracelets that jangle get on my nerves! Sorry

kalefire · 04/02/2019 15:22

I have six bracelets on right now OP.
DH is often moaning about them, yet he's the one that buys them!
They never come off, partly down to choice but partly because a couple are Cartier love bracelets so would need a screw driver to take off Grin

FigandVanilla · 04/02/2019 15:22

It’s up to you! Wear what you like!

MeredithGrey1 · 04/02/2019 15:26

The jangling of multiple bracelets and necklaces would probably annoy me, but I wear two earrings in each ear, 4 rings, and a watch.
Don't think it matters what anyone else thinks about it though.

Bigonesmallone3 · 04/02/2019 15:26

I'm wearing
One necklace
Two bracelets
One ring
One nose ring

Doggydoggydoggy · 04/02/2019 15:30

Oh yes, you hear me before you see me!
Most of my bracelets have a charm so they definitely jingle.

I think whatever you want to do, you do! Just be yourself! Smile If that means more than one or more pieces of jewelry-then so be it! Smile

I wear:

1 gold wedding band

1 or 2 rings on right hand

1 bracelet on each wrist

1 pair earrings

1-3 necklaces (depending on outfit0

Surfingtheweb · 04/02/2019 15:34

I wear my wedding an engagement ring, sometimes a watch, earrings if I'm going out. I don't think lots of jewellery is particularly fashionable anymore but who cares? If you like your sparkle you like your sparkle Grin

drquin · 04/02/2019 15:38

Difficult to judge ..... and I like my jewellery. If the picture you've posted is of the 10 bracelets, then that on its own looks ok, just like a large, single bracelet.

A lot of it is personal taste and style. I don't mind lots of jewellery, on myself or others - but I do notice if i think it doesn't all match. My gut instinct would be to assume your 10 bracelets, 17 rings or necklaces and whatever else can't possibly all "go" with each other. Even if they did, none is getting the chance to shine on its own. Thus it wouldn't be a style I like.

But, unless I was your boss and I had reasonable work-related grounds to comment, or I was your child getting sore from every hug, it's probably not something I'd get excited about. It'd be up there with grown adults who choose to wear "wacky" clothes ..... very much not my style ..... but nowhere near the first thing I'd get worked up about.

Jellylegss · 04/02/2019 15:46

Does a bobble count? I swear I’ll be buried with a black bobble on my wrist Grin. If I’m getting “ready” it’s two bracelets.. the bobble migrates to my hair.. four rings and either one or two necklaces. Ones short like almost choker length and the others a long pendant, one of my bracelets is a plain tennis style thing and the others a cluttery jangly Pandora, same with the rings one very simple band which is stacked (3 on one finger usually) with a small gem and a large sparkly and then a sparkly ring on the other hand. All silver tones too so it’s not a mega mash of colour and things.. I think Hmm

lavalampoon · 04/02/2019 15:48

I just wear my watch (quite a nice one) at home or for normal everyday wear but if I'm trying to look nice I put on 3 rings and a necklace! I find jewellery a bit of a nuisance when I'm doing things round the house or taking the dog out and I don't want to damage the nice rings I have

LooseSeal2 · 04/02/2019 15:50

I wear my wedding & engagement ring, if I’m going out and want to be especially fancy I’ll wear a necklace and maybe earrings. But I’m very boring Grin

krustykittens · 04/02/2019 15:50

I have kids, horses and work too and normally wear three rings and a pair of earrings, even on the yard (take my rings off when I ride though). The amount you wear would be too much for me but even then I always add two bracelets a watch and a necklace to my 'everyday' jewellery even if I am just going to the shops. I love jewellery and have quite a lot so like to rotate. Plus, I love to wear it! I think all those bracelets look lovely together and frankly, OP, if you like it, wear it! Jewellery shouldn't languish all alone in a box, it should be taken out and gloated over. Wink

Lost5stone · 04/02/2019 15:53

I think it depends on your style. I am a minimalist and I have a watch, ring, simple diamond necklace and 1 pair of diamond studs. Look ridiculous with more.

But on people with a more edgy or boho style to me it looks cool.

MadameDD · 04/02/2019 15:54

for me, I just wear, engagement ring, wedding ring, old Tiffany ring and another one next to it (delicate) and another one on the middle finger of my middle hand next to wedding and e rings.

always always wear earrings, different ones as opposed to my 'special' diamond, pearl studs as lost too many nice ones in past.

a necklace I wear when I feel like it - quite like to wear colourful jewellery so if I do that ensure it contrasts or matches.

rarely wear bracelets or anything else. I've gone off wearing watches (got a very nice one!) as I just don't like the feeling of it now having worn them for years up until a few years back.

I do think an excess of jewellery looks tacky.

MadameDD · 04/02/2019 15:56

oh if you have a lot of jangly jewellery (e.g. charm bracelets) then I do think in an open plan office unless you want to annoy your co-workers they're best left at home, I've worn the odd jangly charm bracelet into an otherwise quiet open plan office and have noticed being the only one the jangles - so I leave that for out of work time!

mirren3 · 04/02/2019 15:56

I love the bracelets in your pic, can I ask where you got them, and who are they made by?

zebakrheum · 04/02/2019 15:59

With all that lot jingling about, at least people will be able to hear you coming in the fog Grin

Seriously though, love the bracelets and I like jewellery far more than I like tattoos Smile

Butterflycookie · 04/02/2019 16:00

I feel uncomfortable when I wear jewellery. I have to take them off as soon as i get home.

Splash0 · 04/02/2019 16:00

I used to wear a ring but now i am unable to do that because i have to do frequent nappy changes

Jaxhog · 04/02/2019 16:02

For me that would be way too much and would look silly. But it might suit you, hard to say.

Exactly. If it makes you happy, then do it. If you feel happy, then you're wearing exactly the right amount! If he thinks it's too much, that's his problem.

SpringForEver · 04/02/2019 16:04

Those are pretty and OK if you like to wear a lot of stuff, hippyish kind of look looks good on some people. I used to wear several (small) ear studs and a belly one, sometimes a waist chain or ankle chain until I lost it but I do think that less is more when it comes to rings.

Sometimes people can look as if they can't make up their mind and have chucked everything on that they own and that just makes it a mess. Knowing where to stop is key.

I only ever wear a watch, and that is a cheap one, so I know the time when I am out. I don't even wear my wedding ring.

Can't help wondering if it all gets tangled up and looks a bit of a mess though....

Neverunderfed · 04/02/2019 16:06

Wear what you like. I feel jangly and overdone if I wear more than my wedding/engagement rings and the small chain the kids gave me. I won't wear earrings if I have the necklace on.

NamedyChangedy · 04/02/2019 16:06

Other than occasional stud earrings I don't wear any.

No rings as I'd lose them very quickly - I lift weights most days so I'd have to take them off all the time to avoid a degloving injury (don't Google it. Or do).

No bracelets as the jangling noise they make when I type is unbearable.

No watch although I do own one. But we're surrounded by devices that tell the time, it's just not necessary. I had a Fitbit for a while but don't wear that either.

Gosh I'm very dull.
