Can anyone tell me what you call the metal hook that attaches to the curtain ring that the curtain hook from the curtains attaches to?!! If you see what I mean Confused. I need to buy a set and cannot find what they are called or where I can get any! We have inherited some curtain rails that are so attached to the wall I had to find openable rings to clip on but having got them I now need to be able to attach the curtain hooks! Does any of this name sense Hmm argh

Gliders?

MrsTommyBanks · 04/02/2019 14:53

I'm a bit confused. Can you attach a picture of your curtain rail?

PossiblyPFB · 04/02/2019 14:56

Like these from JL?

I know exactly what you mean, and I'm afraid I think they're usually sold with the curtain rings.

InvisibleToEveryone · 04/02/2019 14:57

These??

TheQueef · 04/02/2019 14:57

There is the curtain attached with a curtain hook (plastic white swirl like a squashed @) going through the curtain header tape and into the curtain ring attached to the curtain pole.

Curtain hooks?

Hedgehoginthefog · 04/02/2019 15:03

Curtain clips?

applesisapple5 · 04/02/2019 15:03

If I'm reading you right you need metal eyes, they usually come screwed into the bottom of the curtain rings tho, they'd be a bastard to do yourself.

Can you post a link to the rings you have, or a photo?

Wavingwhiledrowning · 04/02/2019 15:05

The bits that are screwed into wooden rings are called eyes. You can get a load on ebay. But I wouldn't fancy your chances of attaching them yourself (and re-reading your post you say you've got openable rings which I assume are plastic or metal? So the eyes aren't going to work)... I don't think there's any such thing that you're after. You could improvise with small rings (eg. small keyrings) I suppose?

Oaktreepark · 04/02/2019 16:55

The little metal bit between the ring and the plastic hook! These are from curtains in another room.

Could you use paper clips or you could get split rings, they'd be stronger

applesisapple5 · 04/02/2019 17:19

THe bit you need should come with the curtain rings! It doesn't have a name'

Oaktreepark · 04/02/2019 17:30

How frustrating! The rings were left behind by the precious homeowners. Maybe they took the little metal bit? You must be able to buy them somewhere!

Curtain hooks/ gliders. Not sure which ones you mean. Dunelm sell them all.

DGM has a packet from Woolworths of the plastic ones - price 10p. It''s only got 3 left but she's hanging onto it "in case they come in useful."

NewName54321 · 04/02/2019 17:35

Sorry cross post as I can now see your picture. Advice about Dunelm still stands. You might need to replace the curtain rings with ones that have the little linking rings already screwed in.

Somewhereovertherainbow13 · 04/02/2019 17:47

We got ours from Wilkinson’s but they were plastic if that helps at all

applesisapple5 · 04/02/2019 18:09

Yeah it's a crap design, easier to remove the metal hook than the plastic one (which you're meant to do) maybe get Ikea's ones and only use the bit you need?

DropZoneOne · 04/02/2019 18:26

S hooks?

Wavingwhiledrowning · 04/02/2019 19:26

... Still don't know what they're called though!

Oaktreepark · 04/02/2019 20:13

Ah yes s rings seems right although still can’t find them on their own to buy! Thanks wavingwhiledrowning I think that will be the best option

Wavingwhiledrowning · 04/02/2019 20:20

They're in IKEA too - search for SYRLIG Curtain ring with clip and hook. Good luck!

swapsicles · 04/02/2019 20:22

You can buy new rings with another tiny ring that the curtain hooks hang from, take an original one to get a match.
Alternatively buy eyelet curtains (not helpful if you already have curtains but so much easier and tidier,)
