To tell my friend her husband is on a dating app?

I'm devastated for her but need some perspective as I cannot decide what to do. I'm divorced, but only just getting into the idea of dating again, so recently joined a dating app on Friday night. One of the first matches was with a good friend's husband.

It was a photo he has used before eg on his LinkedIn profile, but he had altered his name. Given correct age.

What would you do? Would you confront him? Tell her? Do nothing? I have been round and round in circles. I'm trying to think of a reason why it could all be entirely innocent...could/would someone have used his picture to create their own profile without him knowing? I'm so new to all this that I don't have any sensible or plausible excuses for him! Is he just a cheating scumbag?

They have two children and have always appeared rock solid and happy. He is very successful and high flying media exec who travels a lot.

Over to you! Anyone been in any kind of similar situation please who can help?

Candle God the lengths people will go to for pixelated vaginas is incredible!

I do wonder how dumb certain people are to cheat via an online app where anyone can come across you.

Not that dumb it seems, if ppl have to ask whether they should let the DW know or not.

If it's an open relationship, why would he change his name?

If it's a stolen picture, it will be one from somewhere in the public domain, and you will be able to see if it is a stranger if interaction with the person occurs at a time when it would be impossible for dh to be doing it. Of course, that requires you to tell your friend (which I believe an actual friend would do!), and her to do a bit of follow up before asking him.

He will deny anything anyway, so she'll need a bit more proof. But I very much wish I had a friend in your position, who would be able to give me definitive proof. If he is on there, he's not going to admit it without undeniable evidence, and then she'd be in a worse position, as he'd hide things better.

"What they want is pics for their wank banks. "

Why would they want those when they can get much more explicit things free online?

He's making a mug of her, and you must say something.

Catsize · 04/02/2019 08:17

Do not send it to her for two reasons..

  1. She may receive it at a really tricky time - supermarket queue, school gates, work meeting etc.

  2. Her husband may see the message appear in her phone if she's left it on the table at home or something and he'd delete it.

I should have added that she does need to know though. Coffee and biscuits - preferably at home with no interruptions/distractions and the freedom to be upset or angry.

Tell her. If there is a good explanation for this then it will come out. There's probably not though...

I guess it’s more titillating to think it’s ‘fresh’?? Or they like knowing they have the power to convince someone to send one? Fuck knows. Men are weird
