Ferret Smells

I guess the AIBU is can I ban my son's best friends from our house?

They're two sisters whose family adopted two ferrets last year and now these kids and their parents absolutely reek! When they come over my son ends up stinking and needs a bath, if they sit on his bed I've got to then strip it, I've got to open the windows and continue to air out the rooms they have been in after they leave

I'm good friends with the mum aswell, she's aware of the smell but says there's nothing she can do so just Iives with it. She's not going to rehome the ferrets, maybe I could suggest all playdates take place at their house so I just need to bath him and don't need to air out my house and strip his bed

It's so acrid and sour, it's awful!

Can vouch for the odour. On my first ever date my 'did become my boyfriend' showed me his ferrets! The jill I held wee-ed on me - all down my lovely new cardigan. Can't imagine being infused with essence of ferret.

Your idea to plan for all meetup time at theirs seems to be the most viable option. Especially in the winter/bad weather months. Then lots of outdoor activities encouraged in the summer.

Ferrets are incredibly stinky. Play dates at theirs does sound a good idea and shower once they get home

I wondered if I was being unfair and denying my son of having these friends over to his but they're over at the moment which is what got me thinking and triggered my post. One of them has just walked past the room I'm in and I can still smell them even now they've gone into another room

Apparently they're very cute but I really don't see the appeal of having them as pets Blush

Oh the smell is like nothing else. We had pet ferrets, who lived outside, but my dad has to have ‘ferret clothes’, because the smell just wouldn’t wash out.

I like the smell of ferrets Blush it's sort of warm & musky

Ours were neutered males & lived outside though. I wouldn't want my house smelling of them, tbh.
