Planning a family holiday for 6 adults (myself,DH,DM+DF,DB+DSil) plus our 8 month old DS. For various reasons we need to go the last week of August. I’ve been left to plan it and am struggling to meet everyone’s requests - DF wants a beach, DB wants mountains, DM wants to stay within Europe, DSil doesn’t want it to be too hot (not over 28C) and DH keen on villa with pool...

AIBU to ask you where on earth this mystical place may be (or if you have any suggestions as to where we could go?!)

Slovenia by one of their lakes. Mountains and water.

weaselish · 02/02/2019 17:24

Lake Garda has all of this!

Haisuli · 02/02/2019 17:25

Montenegro also has all of this.

Oh and also the Dalmatian coast (Croatia) is stunning - beaches and mountains

FrederickCreeding · 02/02/2019 17:26

Croatia, Majorca?
Scotland? I'm sure it won't be too hot! Grin

Turkey. We were in Oludeinz about an hour from Dalaman last year and you get all of that. I was lovely, so cheap too. Hisaronu the big town 5mins away is much more built up but land locked. Buses run between the two. I can't wait to go back. Not sure about villas but Google will. Enjoy!

Mallorca also gives everything you want, depending on the exact mountain requirements. The Northern side is mountainous, so you could get a villa in a hilly area, not too far from the beach, so access to beach trips and mountain views/walks.

Portugal coast line potentially? I remember Portugal having a bit of a breeze but still hot could get a villa with a pool and take a trip to one of the mountains near the coast?

Could a volcano suffice? Smile in which case near Naples in Italy would work (although it could be too hot)

French Alps are lovely in the Summer, Chamonix area (although I realise this lacks the beach!)

You’ve got me a bit stumped !

Madeira. Great mountain region for walking, good beaches (albeit man-made (not naturally sandy so sand was imported from Morocco) with clear water, 4 hour flight, very nice villas with pools easy to find.

Mallorca is good for mountains and beaches and it’s in Europe. We hired a car when there, and it was really easy to navigate around as the signage was spot on.
