I couldn't do it, I'm qualified to, but that's different than having the ability.
Wtf is going on with bashing the poor people who educate your children.
On the whole they deserve your praise, encouragement and respect for the work they do and the conditions they are under.
So I know AINBU to tell you to shut the fuck up unless you have something nice to say.

I know on an individual level we can have problems, nobody is perfect. i've known a couple of bad teachers lots of good teachers and a few exceptional ones during my time as a parent to school aged dc.

So I for one want to say teachers - RESPECT.

Thank you

I didn’t know anyone was bashing them?!

There are good, bad and mediocre ones like any profession. They earn in line with most public sector jobs. Most of the ones I know have spent this week wishing for a snow day...all that would mean for me is still having to get to work but with now, a massive childcare problem.

Teachers?...they’re hard working people I mostly respect but nothing superhuman.

I agree with the sentiment romanyroots Yet on another thread you are saying that you refused to let your children attend the after school detentions your child's teachers set. That is neither respectful nor supportive.

I trained as a PE teacher, did the full 3 years BEd course but changed to have a career in Leisure instead. Never regretted this decision, even more so nowadays. I couldn’t put up with the bad behaviour of the minority of children that ruin classes for the majority, or some of the despicable parents. It was far easier throwing them out of leisure activities if it was needed. Good teachers are inspirational, sadly they get tied up in administrative dross far too often nowadays. Have a lovely niece who is Dep Head at an infants school, some of the things she tells me about are so depressing.

You must be new here.

School really didn't mind, it was extenuating circumstances, they still lost their time and I have always fully supported school and the teachers.
My dd has some amazing teachers, who I respect and admire greatly.
My pont on the other thread is that it might not be possible for some after school, they should still lose their time in some way.

I hate that teachers are blamed for everything and I think if people are going to moan they should complain about the people who are actually to blame.
Why do people find it so hard to understand the role and responsibilities of a teacher?
