AIBU to be irritated by HBD instead of happy birthday messages

I already know IABU to care what goes on on Facebook Grin but it’s my boyfriend’s birthday today and he has at least three posts on his wall with just the letters HBD. By men if that’s relevant 😂
Is it really too hard to write happy birthday?!! I mean predictive text does most of the work anyway?! Is everyone so busy these days they can only manage to press three letters?? Grin

Surely anything other than a homemade, hand delivered card is lazy

Winterfellismyhome · 01/02/2019 12:45

Yanbu. My pet hate

Birfdee · 01/02/2019 12:46

Exactly pristine with some home baked cookies or something too. And 27 is a big birthday don’t you know 😂

You are not U.

It winds me up too. Is it really so very exhausting and difficult to wish some a full "Happy Birthday" once a year?

If you are that busy (I sincerely doubt it), just save yourself the energy and don't bother with anything.

PinkBuffalo · 01/02/2019 12:50

I have never seen HBD, but my poor brain would be looking at that thinking wtf does that mean! lol

Birfdee · 01/02/2019 12:53

I would feel like replying with just TY. But apparently that’s a thing too?!! The irony would be lost.

I think people do it because its’cool’ rather than laziness.
But YANBU, it’s ridiculous.

Birfdee · 01/02/2019 12:57

TheBluesAreStillBlue makes me even more glad I’m not young and cool anymore not sure I ever was

Never seen it - maybe its a young thing.

CallMeSirShotsFired · 01/02/2019 13:04

I am mid 40s, so now I'm feeling all giddy at being called "young" Grin

Birfdee · 01/02/2019 13:05

kC225 we are in our 30s. The people writing it are in their 30s or late 20s. Obviously I feel this is very young Grin but hardly teenagers with all their abbreviations that I have to google 😂

Just realised I wrote he’s 27 before, boyfriend would be chuffed, he’s actually 37 and my fat fingers just missed the button

Aeroflotgirl · 01/02/2019 13:11

Yes I agree, it is very lazy. I am left trying to work out what it means.

Lilifer · 01/02/2019 13:19

what's even worse OP is Happy Happy - sometimes people say that instead of Happy Birthday, why the hell, it doesnt even make sense!!
