So if the shitstorm that is Brexit coincides with the apocalypse, what word are we going to use to refer to our daily lives and the mess we’re in? Who wants Brexocalypse, and who wants apocalexit?

I quite like the first one because it’s officially already capitalised. Open to further suggestions but just thought this time I’d get ahead of the game.

What does portmanteau mean? Smile

SubparOwl · 01/02/2019 12:30

Apocalexit is a word of true beauty.

RosemarysBush · 01/02/2019 12:31

I like apocolexit but it’s a bit of a tongue twister.

Well brexocalypse is clearly a noun, where as apocalexit could be an adjective, so I vote for both.

As in, 'it was a Brexocalypse of apocalexit proportions'

Nice work OP.

Lweji · 01/02/2019 12:33

Apocalexit sounds better.

timeforteaplease1 · 01/02/2019 12:35

What does portmanteau mean?

Google!

StealthPolarBear · 01/02/2019 12:37

Brexhitstorm

ethelfleda · 01/02/2019 12:38

I did google it. I was being sort of light hearted by posting a stupid comment Smile

I like newaverage’s suggestion though...

Lweji · 01/02/2019 12:40

Brexaclism.

Lweji · 01/02/2019 12:41

Brexageddon.

onalongsabbatical · 01/02/2019 12:41

thenewaveragebear1983 ha! Genius you are!

'it was a Brexocalypse of apocalexit proportions' I'd just like to correct that from 'was' to 'is'. Then I'm going to practise it rolling off my tongue and bring it out at all appropriate moments. Thank you, great contribution!

I see your Brexageddon and I raise you an armarexit!

I've invented the portmanteau "Brexistential". Usually followed by angst or crisis.

AgnesNaismith · 01/02/2019 12:44

Apocalexit is my choice. See also:

Brexastrophe
Brexsolation
Brexageddon

AgnesNaismith · 01/02/2019 12:45

Ahhh you beat me to Brexageddon, too long spent on the online thesaurus Grin

onalongsabbatical · 01/02/2019 12:46

This thread is giving me undue happiness. I'm suffering from Breximania.
