I love, and followed the News Quiz for years and wondered at his absence of late.

Beyond sad. Such intelligence, humour. One of us. I'm weeping as I write this;

Playlist! Excellent, thank you.

This is so sad. I have always found him funny, insightful, and really respected his views and politics. Always delighted to hear his voice on Radio 4. I have spent the evening listening to clips. He was one of those people who you just knew would be genuinely lovely if you ever had the good fortune to meet them.

So so sad

Such sad news. He always seemed like such a lovely man as well as being funny.

DingDongDenny · 01/02/2019 23:15

I loved him, saw him live twice and he had such a gentle, intelligent and humble persona, mixed in with a bit of barbed political wit.

I was really shocked at Radio 4 today who interviewed 2 people who worked with him asking questions like 'did he go to far with this politics'

Fuck off, he's just died, now is the time to celebrate him not debate his politics. I thought it was really disrespectful

It’s a shame that the record the News Quiz on a Thursday, I’m sure they would want to say something, perhaps there will be something at the beginning.

I was thinking that it was just as well they don't record on a Friday, I'm sure the panellists, particularly Andy Hamilton, would really have struggled to go on with the show if they did. In a way it was typically considerate of him to wait till the recording was done.

I remember when the dream team on the News Quiz was Alan Coren, Andy Hamilton, Linda Smith and Jeremy Hardy. It's so sad that three of them died prematurely of cancer.

I remember an extremely funny thing he said about parenting. The context was the sort of questions people feel free to ask an adoptive parent.

"I get asked: "When will you tell your daughter she's adopted?" and I say, "Every time she's naughty."

Such sad news. Everything has already been said about what a funny, kind and human man he was.

Thank you for the link to the playlist.

RIP Jeremy

Gutted! He was indeed splendid, how heart breaking for his family, friends, colleagues.
He gave me hope that there are kind compassionate people out there who do still care.
RIP x

We saw him live a couple of years ago, he was brilliant, but there was a bloke in front of us whose partner had clearly dragged him along and didn’t find JH at all funny and at the interval the bloke was saying this loudly (bit like @recrudescence - no sense of appropriate timing) - after the interval JH’s first bit was all about people who’d been dragged to the gig by their partners. The bloke in front of us was squirming and we were howling with laughter. So sad.
