Fucking 'childproof' lids.

I have just spent 15 minutes, half my fingernails and a bent knife trying to open a bottle of plughole unblocker. I have rheumatoid arthritis and even normal jar lids are difficult for me. I can't 'push and turn' - I can barely do one or the other. AIBU that many elderly, physically impaired, those on medication and those with just not much strength are disadvantaged by these inventions from hell because the childed can't watch their fucking offspring more carefully?

Just buy a childproof lid opener.

They're a fiver.

planespotting · 31/01/2019 14:41

It is not because parents can't watch them. It is because companies don't want to get in trouble if an accident happens

vuripadexo · 31/01/2019 14:44

btw I get it's annoying but you sound like an arsehole and an idiot.

  1. childproofing isn't about negligent parenting and you know it
  1. disabled people ask for accommodations all the time. if everyone had the same attitudes as you, you'd be the most fucked over by it. I mean: I'm neither a child nor arthritic so according to you, why should I give a fuck about either of you?

@vuripadexo Grin

Well you sound like a lovely person OP 🙄

Fuck sake I just lost a post.

You do know people can be impaired and weak and medicated and parents?! childed is a fucking horrible term.

I get your frustration (I started a similar thread about a reed diffuser once and it was FULL of fucking swearing Grin) but thinking your solvable inconvenience is more important than childrens' safety - really?! Get an opener and don't talk about the childed and their fucking offspring on Mumsnet FFS, know your audience! Wink

Here is a link for you.

You can buy plughole unblocker in little sachets. I sometimes struggle with the push and turn caps, but there are ways around it.

It is hard having dexterity issues and I do feel a bit for you now actually as people are going to 🔥 for your comments re children. Did you post in anger?

Babdoc · 31/01/2019 15:12

I usually ask my children to open them for me... !
