Swelling on mons pubis area of vagina

Hello everyone,

I have had a swelling on my vagina since the beginning of pregnancy (25 weeks) I think it's an ingrown hair. It doesn't look swollen, but i can feel the fluid under the skin, and it has shifted to be more central. The doctor was reluctant to give me antibiotics as I'm pregnant, but it's getting worse.
I have been using magnesium sulphate for the last two days but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I am about to have an epsom salt bath.
Has anyone else had this, or antibiotics for something when pregnant.
Can anyone suggest anything else?
Thank you
Gemma

Did the doctor confirm it was an ingrown hair? Sorry I’ve never had anything like this so can’t help.. did the bath do any good? Smile

On your vagina? Or on your mons pubis?

I know people get pedantic on here but in this case it does matter. Your mons pubis is actually no where near your vagina.

If it’s your mons then the likelihood it is an ingrown hair, bloked pore or other minor infection.

If it is in or near your vagina an ingrown hair is less likely (you don't grow hair in your vagina) and it may be something else, like an inflamed gland or bartholins cyst.

The bath seemed to help a bit actually thank you.
It def isn't on my vagina, sorry to be unclear. It starts on my labia majora and spreads up to the mons pubis area!

You DO know you are gonna get a load of people saying it's not your vagina?! Wink

Anywayz. Yeah I would try a hot water compress, and if that doesn't work, see a GP! Smile

What size is it? A pea, a 2p?

Could it be a Bartholin's cyst? Google it and have a read. If it is, it is nothing to worry about. I would go back to your doctors and ask for a referral to a gynecologist.

Did the doctor examine you?

I had something that sounds similar but I think it was swollen veins under the skin as I got some varicosities down there.

I had something similar about 18 months ago. It would flare up over 2 or 3 days then disappear only to come back a couple of weeks later. Went to GP who said it was an infection and gave me antibiotics and a topical treatment. It's never returned since.
