To report car across the road

dalmation101 · 30/01/2019 14:32

Neighbour further down the street seems to have stopped driving. Car is there all of the time and they seem to be using public transport instead. Checked the number plate online and it has no MOT.

Would you bother reporting it or just keep your sticky beak out?

Does this count as a parking thread...doesn't really need a drawing...

How nosy are you?!

dalmation101 · 30/01/2019 14:34

Haha I know! I'm off sick and have nothing better to do!!

But then I pay for an MOT every year, why shouldn't they?!

DailyMailWankers · 30/01/2019 14:34

If it isn't causing an obstruction I'd probably keep my beak out.

Mmmhmmm · 30/01/2019 14:34

This counts as a "I'm super nosy and have way too much free time." thread.

Mind your own business.

dalmation101 · 30/01/2019 14:35

Not an obstruction, just one of those streets with not enough spaces for everyone, and you can see people are annoyed that it's always there.

You check your neighbours cars online eh?
I collect snails.

WetWipesGoInTheBin · 30/01/2019 14:36

Only report it when it has no road tax. They then come and place a nice yellow wheel clamp on it with a sticker on the windscreen.

In my area they randomly come out to do that so you don't need to report anyone.

TheQueef · 30/01/2019 14:36

If it isn't moving why are you worried about it being mechanically fit?
Did you want it to be untaxed?

recklessruby · 30/01/2019 14:37

I wouldn't have bothered looking it up. I d assume it was broken down.
And I wouldn't report it either, maybe they're waiting for payday to get the mot

dalmation101 · 30/01/2019 14:37

It hasn't moved since September. I didn't know what I was looking for, just had a nosy after seeing you could.

Well that was the question, I was seeing how important people think things like this are!

OP posts:
Elfinablender · 30/01/2019 14:40

Just leave it alone, fgs. It might be there until they can pay for the MOT/ repairs. Unless you think they took up public transport to get full use of their prime roadside parking space?

williteverend99 · 30/01/2019 14:40

Get a hobby, OP

FabulouslyFab · 30/01/2019 14:42

Is it SORNd?

ShatnersBassoon · 30/01/2019 14:42

This does seem malicious. There's no winner if you do report it to the police.

TheQueef · 30/01/2019 14:44

You can't report it. It's an offense to drive a car without valid MoT not park it up.

EmpressJewel · 30/01/2019 14:45

I reported an 'abandoned' vehicle which had no MOT and would do it again.

I reported it via the council and nothing happened, so a few weeks later, I did so via the .gov website and the vehicle was removed quickly.

AdoreTheBeach · 30/01/2019 14:46

You can also check online to see if the road tax is paid. If not, I agree YANBU to report it as abandoned. If no tax, it doesn’t belong on the road (also agree about the MOT especially as it expired long ago and hasn’t moved).

Hazeintheclouds · 30/01/2019 14:47

Parking is problematic enough as it is without people who are no longer driving taking up a space. I would report it.

Hazeintheclouds · 30/01/2019 14:49

If it is untaxed, it should not be on the road or parked at the side of the road. That is an offence.

Drogosnextwife · 30/01/2019 14:51

Well since it's sitting there doing nothing I doubt the police or anyone else will be interested if the MOT is up to date. Do you mean the road tax? Even if you do I suggest you find something else to amuse yourself!

dalmation101 · 30/01/2019 14:51

It has tax, but you still need an MOT to park in the street don't you? You can't just report MOT online and it seems a bit extreme to call 101, as the gov website suggests.

OP posts:
dalmation101 · 30/01/2019 14:52

Exactly Haze, that's why I checked, as you can see people being annoyed by it.

We had a car in that situation (almost.) We had sold it to a family friend and they literally came up with every excuse not to collect it for months, and we had to keep it on the road outside our house.
I was sick the whole time and my husband was run off his feet working full time and looking after me and dd when he got home.
I’m glad we don’t have neighbours like you!
