Parking fine

Bugsymalonemumof2 · 30/01/2019 11:30

Got a parking fine for parking here. Would I be unreasonable to think it isn't fair? The white line looks like another space, you can barely see the Hachet and I couldn't see them at all when I parked because of how the light was reflecting. All other yellow markings in the car park are fresh and clear.

Prepared to told I am unreasonable and don't want to look a twit appealing if I am

I probably would have parked there too; can you pay it then appeal to avoid paying more by waiting? I’d probably appeal it but accept gracefully if it’s not accepted

Peridot1 · 30/01/2019 11:39

You have nothing to lose by appealing.

I appealed one where DH told me I had no chance but I got it cancelled.

I parked on Main Street not realising it was pay and display. The sign was tiny and above a shop sign and the machine was the other end of the street. Sent photos and said I hadn’t realised and they cancelled it.

Bluelady · 30/01/2019 11:41

I'd have parked there. Definitely appeal it.

effiehabb · 30/01/2019 11:42

I would have definitely parked there, it wouldn't even occur to me that it wasn't a space. Definitely appeal. Good luck!

HouseyMcHouseFace · 30/01/2019 11:42

I’d have parked there. Even if I had spotted the tiny bits of yellow I think I’d have assumed it was marking out a bit of a footpath right by the hedge so people could walk through.

PestoSnowissimos · 30/01/2019 11:44

It looks like a parking space to me

ShatnersBassoon · 30/01/2019 11:44

I think appeal that. The white line at the corner indicates it's a space, and the yellow hatching is barely visible.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 30/01/2019 11:44

Due to the white T line, it’s definitely ambiguous so worth appealing.

Ladyoftheloch · 30/01/2019 11:46

It definitely looks like a spot to me! Can’t be any harm in appealing, you might get a sympathetic officer.

SaveKevin · 30/01/2019 11:47

I was going to say what judas has about the T line making it look like a space.
I would appeal it as well, it looks like old out of date markings, if it was raining that hatching would be completely invisible its so faint

BeanTownNancy · 30/01/2019 11:47

I would probably have parked there too - looks like the yellow lines have been made redundant (or they would have repainted them) and the clear white parking space demarcation on the left indicates that the space to the right is also a space to me.

Bastards.

DGRossetti · 30/01/2019 11:48

The markings appear contradictory ... the "T" bar suggests the line encloses a parking bay, but the hatching suggests it's not.

From the photo, the hatching looks older, so it's a reasonable assumption the "T" bar is therefore indicating a parking bay.

GalacticChickenShit · 30/01/2019 11:48

Normally with these threads I think the OP is making silly excuses and should suck it up, but in this case I think you've got a good case.

Mysterian · 30/01/2019 11:49

All other yellow markings in the car park are fresh and clear.

That's the key thing for me. If they've recently done the other lines but not bothered with the hatching I would assume the hatching was now obsolete.

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 30/01/2019 11:49

I would appeal that. Take photos of the other yellow marked bays to illustrate the ambiguity of that parking space when all the otgers in the carpark are clearly marked. It's not as if they are all just a bit worn down, that one clearly has been missed and is no longer fit for purpose.

keepingbees · 30/01/2019 11:52

Definitely appeal it. Aside from the fact the yellow lines are worn off and insufficient, the white line on the left implies it's a space in my opinion.
What is it anyway if it's not a parking space?

Bugsymalonemumof2 · 30/01/2019 11:53

Fab thank you. Normally I would just suck it up but it's too ambiguous especially as the ground was wet and sun was reflecting really brightly off it when I parked.

Am going to go back and grab some pictures of the other spots

I'd have parked there, too. The short white line continuing horizontally to the right of the next space indicates this is another parking space, to me. I would appeal, though if that meant the fine going up ridiculously in the meantime, I would pay up to get the reduced amount.
