Am I poorly?

Please be kind but objective... I'm not very good at recognising when I'm ill and often make myself go to work when I should be resting. I find it hardest to decide when there's no snot, cough or barf involved. I've taken today off (first in months and months) but feel like a fraud due to absence of aforementioned.

Saturday pm - slept from 12-7, got up for food, and went back to bed. Head was hurting.

Sunday am - slept until 11, then stayed in bed in the dark as couldn't face anything more. Head wasn't as bad but ears were fizzy and felt like head was full of fluff. Tearful last night.

Today - slept until 11. Ears fizzing, can't keep warm, head is fluffy and a bit achy above the eyes. Lower back aches. Face feels dry and puffy. Haven't eaten; off food. Screen doesn't seem to make it worse, but I've only been looking at this one for a couple of minutes while I type.

Brain says I'm just overtired and I should be in work right now, and should go in tomorrow because if I wanted to I could stand up and get dressed. Can more experienced and logical people tell it to me straight?

You dont sound very well at all OP

In fact the symptoms you are seeing as not there often mean its actually nothing serious at all.

The only thing tying me to the house is that I don't feel like leaving. I'm not trapped in the loo or lost my voice or spraying infectious saliva/mucus everywhere. Those are the things I associate with being ill.

they are cold symptoms and or stomach bug symptoms. They are two minor players in the world of illness - popular and easily caught yes but minor

You on the other hand have a virus without those symptoms that needs rest and recuperation - including time off work

I've made arrangements to stay off again tomorrow. Thanks for your help Star

I was like this last week!! I was expecting a brutal cold but just randomly started feeling better by weekend and that was that. I went to work but I just sat in my office with the heater on me and a hot water bottle. Viruses don’t have to be vacating your body but I did just think I was probably tired but no, I definitely felt ill.
