To be fucked off with husband

Crockof · 27/01/2019 22:07

Aibu to be upset that my husband has just referred to his ex as My insert name ie My Sarah. We are married and have children just for background. He has no children with ex.

Do you know many other Sarahs?

Aquamarine1029 · 27/01/2019 22:09

Do you know another Sarah? Perhaps he was just trying to be clear.

JasperKarat · 27/01/2019 22:11

Hmm depends on context, day you were chatting away about bumping into 'sarah' and he said which one, Sarah from church or my Sarah? I think that's ok, he's asking for clarification. If he was eulogising about the wonderful time he had with 'my Sarah' or how 'my sarah' would always make me a hot water bottle and tuck me in at bedtime etc HIBU

CoastalLife · 27/01/2019 22:13

That would fuck me off a bit to be honest. It's quite an intimate way to refer to someone I think. Certainly my friends and family would only use "my such-and-such" to describe a very close friend, family member or partner.

Cluelessbeetroot · 27/01/2019 22:13

In the nicest possible way I think you’re looking too much into it OP

Crockof · 27/01/2019 22:14

Sorry for not being clear. We were talking about old times and visiting people that are passed. He said -'I wanted to take my Sarah to see my grandfather but she wasn't allowed'

Is your husband Phil Lynott?

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 27/01/2019 22:15

Definitely need the context.

Crockof · 27/01/2019 22:19

Who is Phil lynott??

OP posts:
Weepingwillow5 · 27/01/2019 22:20

I get it 100% . I’d feel a bit hurt too , but unless he has form then he was probably just being unthinking . Nothing wrong with telling him how you feel though .

user1471517900 · 27/01/2019 22:22

Huge overreaction then. It's absolutely fine to refer to her as that.

DareDevil223 · 27/01/2019 22:24

HildaZelda

Grin Grin

Phil Lynott was the lead singer of the band Thin Lizzy, he wrote a song about his daughter called 'My Sarah'

I'd be a bit hacked off if my DP referred to an ex-gf as 'My' anything tbh.

Crockof · 27/01/2019 22:24

Clueless beetroot Thanks. I'm not normally neurotic so appreciate your reply

Isth · 27/01/2019 22:25

Overreacting for sure.

Crockof · 27/01/2019 22:27

Weepingwillow5 thank you. He knows I'm asking on here. I think he didn't think but so...... It's a properly shit thing to say

OP posts:
Fluffyears · 27/01/2019 22:34

Hmm not sure one of my friends always refers to family by ‘our...’ e.g ‘our sarah’ I think some people do it without thinking.

Littleraindrop15 · 27/01/2019 22:34

If you really think about it it's not that different to saying.. 'My ex' and perhaps whilst thinking my ex he ended up with my and the name??

I'm dyslexic and I probably have said similar in the past. Think you are thinking too deeply into it.

X

PinaColada1 · 27/01/2019 22:46

Context is everything I think. If you are happy and secure, I’d treat it as embarrassing slip. If not, it’s bound to make you feel weird.

Try slipping in ‘my ....’ about your ex to see if he reacts!

Rachelle3211 · 27/01/2019 22:49

Huge overreaction. You're married, it's not as though him saying that means anything.

BeachtheButler · 27/01/2019 22:49

Who is Phil lynott??

Oh fuck, I feel old! Sad

Butterfly84 · 27/01/2019 22:55

Wow. That would annoy me. But maybe as a pp said, he might have been replacing Sarah with 'ex', i.e. instead of my ex, my Sarah.

Still sounds weird.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 27/01/2019 23:01

@BeachtheButler 😂😂😂, they're all young pups on here !
I feel your pain 😜😀

Pinkbells · 27/01/2019 23:08

He was talking in the past tense though, so I wouldn't read too much into it.
