Neighbours dog has just attacked me and DD.

Have had issues with them in the past

They are elderly, with two large breed dogs (think Great Danes?). They cannot control them. Honestly the amount of times I have seen them nearly pull them over in the street/simply pull out of their grasp and go bouncing off and jumping all over people is untrue.

Was walking back from the shop and saw them coming from a distance so I stepped to the side into another neighbours driveway and next thing I know- one of them had pulled out of its owners grasp and came bounding over and knocked DD (who is just about getting confident with her toddling) over.

It was over in seconds- by the time I put the break on the pram (was stood on a slopes drive so it would of ran off into the road) and went to grab DD she was already on the floor the dog barking at her- so I kicked it to get it away, and it bit my leg.

I was furious. Owner very embarrassed an apologetic but I’ve said enough is enough and I would be contacting the police and the RSPCA.

Heaven forbid it bounded on the pram and just decided to bite my 2 week old. It would of taken her head off no doubt.

V shaken and waiting for DH to get home to call the police and RSPCA.

I’ve also messaged his daughter on Facebook

Bloody knew horses were vicious animals

Jenasaurus · 28/01/2019 14:38

I am often late for work as I wait for dogs off lead to go ahead of me, or even backtrack away from a route to avoid being in a situation the dog could reach me. This morning a large dog stopped dead as I approached and stared at me. Its owner just stood there too alongside the dog, he could tell I was scared, although I was trying my best not to show it, and instead pretended I had forgotten something and returned up the path. Sadly this is a regular occurrence for me as my home is close to a park and alleyways with no escape if a dog off the lead approaches. Having read this thread I feel angry that people think everyone should be trained in how to deal with a dog situation, now, why should that be necessary, shouldn't it be dog owners train themselves and their dogs to not attack or scare members of the public. I do know I have an extreme dog phobia but I was bitten by a dachshund as a child, small dog but it hurt an I remember the fear when it chased me.

Deadbudgie

Wordthe.... so you seem to take great delight in the idea of people being able to kill and injure dogs... wonder what this says about you

It seems Word has been "attacked by ferocious dogs" many times. Considering she is not a dog owner how did she meet so many ferocious dogs? I walk my dog 3 times a day. And have done for years. I meet many dogs. Some are a pain in the arse because their owners have done nothing to train them but I can honestly say I have never been bitten, let alone attacked, by a dog. Not counting the very many scratches I have received from my puppies over the years - as is normal.

They say dogs are a very good judge of character. Either Word is evil enough for dogs to constantly "attack" her OR she has told blatant lies to the police whenever she has encountered an off lead dog going about it's business.

It's fucking sad if dogs have been put down based on Words obvious hatred of dogs.

Predators? My backside! 😂😂😂

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/01/2019 15:03

I was bitten by a rabbit once.

Nesssie · 28/01/2019 15:11

ChardonnaysPrettySister I work with dogs, but the most vicious bite I've received was from a rabbit... got a mass of scars on my hand from one.

BlueSlipperSocks · 28/01/2019 15:12

I was bitten by a rabbit once

I had some nasty bites from hamsters when I was a child. Mother didn't like dogs so thought hamsters would suffice.

Evil little fucking predators! 😂😂😂

mbosnz · 28/01/2019 15:17

I love dogs and am not nervy around them, but I do not love uncontrolled dogs. The other evening I was out walking, and a woman had 4 little yappy things on leads, and one large thing not on a lead - and that's the one that started barking aggressively at me.

I was not impressed with her breezy 'oh sorry, he doesn't normally bark at people' - it almost seemed like clearly it was me that was in the wrong for him barking at me! I'm afraid my usual 'oh, that's all right', became a rather unimpressed 'humph'. I'm sure she thought I was most unreasonable.

userblablabla · 28/01/2019 15:18

Think I’d bite if I was kicked too!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/01/2019 15:19

We had the school hamster over the holidays one. She was called Tiffany and was a right little pain in the arse.

Deadbudgie · 28/01/2019 15:20

Exactly Belinda even if a kid does ignore my direction to keep away all my dog will do is move off. We’ve spent a lot of time undoing the damage but getting there.

I find it bizarre though that all the dog haters on here seem to think dogs should have perfect manners and good behaviour;which 99% of them do yet kids and parents cat be expected to behave in asimilar way. Maybe they have far more respect for dogs than they’re admitting to, they certainly seem to think dog owners and dogs are capable of better behaviour than parents and kids

TheCounter · 28/01/2019 15:24

Worst bite I ever got was from a classmate in school when I was 7.

Shoulda been on a muzzle the evil little shit

Deadbudgie · 28/01/2019 15:26

Blue, I think word lives in the wolf enclosure at West mids safari park as she seems to be confusing domestic dogs with wolves permanently. Pack mentality? Predators? The world is flat? Maybe she tried to taser them once?

Otherwise she’s bloody unlucky, I’ve groen up with loads of dogs around both extended families have dogs, we’ve spent our lives walking round with lots of dogs, I have never been attacked or seen an attack!

Funny since finding out op is a dog owner word hasn’t mentioned her once, no doubt she’s now of the opinion op deserves everything she got for bringing a pack of evil predators amongst us.

XmasPostmanBos · 28/01/2019 15:28

Having read this thread I feel angry that people think everyone should be trained in how to deal with a dog situation

I totally agree with you that owners must always take responsibility for their dogs. Both for the safety of the public and for the dogs safety too. A dog that is badly behaved is in danger of getting hurt or could get lost or if it does injure someone it could be put down. Its the owners duty to keep that from happening and keep everyone around the dog safe too.

However I do think its good to know how to deal with dogs in the same way its good to know a bit of self defence or how to cope with various emergencies. Hopefully you will never need it but it is useful. Its not your responsibility though you should be able to walk about without worrying about dogs.

I do know I have an extreme dog phobia

Again I am not saying you should have to do anything but understanding a bit more about dogs might actually help your phobia. Knowing how to "read" dogs you meet and see if they are friendly or uninterested in you might make you feel better. Most dogs are like this and just want to get to the park.

Jenasaurus · 28/01/2019 15:28

chardonneysprettysister I have also been bitten by a rabbit, although it was totally my fault. he jumped out of his enclosure and landed in a bucket with some rain water in, I picked him up and squished his foot, he bit me. I didn't hold a grudge though and still rescued him from a fox when I came home one school lunch time and he was being chased round the garden.

BlueSlipperSocks · 28/01/2019 15:35

Deadbudgie. OP has disappeared then.... I wonder what fantastic story about her call to the police she will come back with. I'll take a guess...
"The police said this isn't the first report of this dog we have received, salivating and baring its teeth before it has attacked, for no reason. It has done this on 5 other occasions. We have ordered the dog be put to sleep"... or some such other shit. 🙄

M3lon · 28/01/2019 15:43

Totally agree that humans are absolutely the most lethal thing alive on the planet.

TBH I was surprised that dog deaths were as low as 2/3 per year. I guess its because its often babies/toddlers killed that it sticks in the mind disproportionately.

So horses...have they actually attacked and killed anyone? I kinda file horse deaths in the same place as getting sat on by a cow. Not really done with lethal intent? I could well be wrong though.

Would not go anywhere near a horse by choice. People are quite good at not taking them on the school run, or into restaurants, or into children's playgrounds.

In fact if people kept dogs the same way people keep horses then I wouldn't mind at all.

Pissedoffdotcom · 28/01/2019 15:45

Hamsters are bastards.

It's unlikely the dogs would be PTS based on one event. The owners would likely get a control order. It's up to them then to abide by it or they do risk the dogs being PTS

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/01/2019 15:48

Well, there we have it.

The Bunny rabbit may well turn out to be the most dangerous and predatory animal in Britain.

I just remembered that one of my dogs was bitten by a rabbit too.

M3lon · 28/01/2019 15:53

I too know a rabbit that bites every single ankle that gets in range.

Not very likely it will ever kill anyone though...and I think that is important in differentiating the threat level.

I would definitely react differently if my toddler is being attacked by a rabbit than a dog.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 28/01/2019 16:01

Suppose it is.

It's also important to differentiate when someone writes something tongue in cheek as opposed to being deadly serious about the bunny rabbit threat.

M3lon · 28/01/2019 16:06

I sort of assumed it was...but then being tongue in cheek about toddlers being attacked by dogs seems an odd choice.

KissingInTheRain · 28/01/2019 16:07

Why do so many dog owners doubt accounts of dog attacks? I get that some owners are genuinely very careful about their dogs, but there are so many that are irresponsible and selfish that numerous stories of attacks and threats seem entirely plausible.

The Royal Mail says, ”...dog attacks are a significant hazard with over 44 postmen and women attacked each week across the UK, some leading to a permanent and disabling injury”

If that’s just posties, there must be any number of attacks up and the country every day.

Doubting this just seems a way of dog owners burying their heads in the sand.

irunlikeahipoo · 28/01/2019 16:20

For those of you thinking of getting a taser / stun gun to zap these pesky annoying savage dogs that you see every day
you might find yourself in jail doing a long sentence
im pretty sure it used to be classed the same as a firearm and the penalty for having one is the same as a gun

Deadbudgie · 28/01/2019 17:14

I had an absolute bastard of a rabbit once still have scars across my stomach that look like I was attacked by Freddie Kruger 10 years later! But his friend was worse jumping on my piano in the middle on the night knocking out a tune! Took bloody years off my life.

Once got run over by a horse. Now that fucking hurt! Good marks on my back and everything-in fact that still hurts 30 years later.

Deadbudgie · 28/01/2019 17:14

Hoof not good
