In asking for what to wear to a wedding help?

It's in April. I'm planning on losing lots of weight (ha) so will be a size 10.

I'm very short with a massive butt and thick thighs.

Usually like to dress more on the trendy/unusual side but haven't been to a wedding in years and never a spring wedding. Plus I've not been to the UK in a while and don't know what's in/out fashion wise. I wouldn't wear something just because it's 'in' or discount something classic just feel old and grumpy and want to look good in front of people I haven't seen in years!

Thinking of things along this line, are they awful? A lot of stuff out here now is satin and sheer and no matter how much weight I lose there will still be lumps.

I really love this and it can be worn different ways but is it a bit much?

Sorry not a fan of any of your choicesConfused

BiscuitDrama · 26/01/2019 18:22

I thought the first one looked a bit cheap... it isn’t though.

Nearly like the middle one, but I think it’s a bit much really.

The third one seems a bit dull for you?
What sort of thing do you normally wear.

PastaCake · 26/01/2019 18:22

I like the 3rd one :)

Ladyoftheloch · 26/01/2019 18:22

The third one is ok. Second one is hideous imo but it’s your taste that matters not mine! First is a bit low cut / too much boob for a wedding unless it’s going to be very casual.

PurpleDaisies · 26/01/2019 18:22

The third one is the best apart from the pattern. I really don’t like the first two.

Sexnotgender · 26/01/2019 18:23

Something like this?

The first 2 are horrible. The third one is nice but says office to me not wedding.

AppleKatie · 26/01/2019 18:24

I don’t like any of them either (sorry).

You’ve got a massive budget by the look of it and could definitely find better.

Also you are either a size ten OR have massive thighs and but- can’t be both.

DorisDances · 26/01/2019 18:24

Not keen on any really - third one at a pinch but surely a jollier pattern could be had to suit your personality

BiscuitDrama · 26/01/2019 18:25

Do you like anthropology stuff? Or something a bit less boho? I can’t work out your style from those three.

Jon65 · 26/01/2019 18:26

The nea dress is inappropriate unless an evening wedding, black tie. The second dress is going to cut you into 3 making you look short and wide, whereas what you need is something more linear. Have a look for one colour or small print, possibly with a v neck, ending at or just below the knee. If you are short anything longer than knee length is going to look frumpy. The third dress is probably the best but not shapely at all.

These are all anthropology. I felt like it was a good starting point.

I was worried the first one was a little exposed. It's a church wedding and not too casual I don't think.

My thighs are big proportionally if you know what I mean. They usually mean I have to size up. So when my top is a 6 my thighs/hips will still be a 10-12.

So at the moment my top half is about a 10 and bottom is a 16. Very frustrating!

PurpleDaisies · 26/01/2019 18:30

What size are you now?

Sexnotgender · 26/01/2019 18:31

Would a skirt and top work better for you? Then you don’t need to drown your top half to fit your bottom half.

PurpleDaisies · 26/01/2019 18:32

Won’t that first dress be too cold for April?

Darnsquirrels · 26/01/2019 18:32

I love the print of that @Sexnotgender but high necks swamp me a bit. I have quite big boobs (hopefully they won't disappear!)

Point taken with the long dresses, I think I'm shopping for a different person to myself. Grin

@PurpleDaisies Provably not. It's been -26 where I live recently, Uk in April will feel like Africa! Grin

Geminijes · 26/01/2019 18:34

Sorry, but I don't think any of them are suitable for a wedding unless it's a very, very casual wedding.

Darnsquirrels · 26/01/2019 18:36

I don't really know what my style is anymore! I didn't really lose weight after ds 6 years ago so I've been eating leggings and enormous jumpers for years. Sad

deadliftgirl · 26/01/2019 18:39

I think these are more smart casual looks, not for a wedding!

I have put some suggestions below of what I would wear for a wedding!

www.chichiclothing.com/products/Chi-Chi-Shirley-Dress.html

www.chichiclothing.com/products/Chi-Chi-Katelynn-Dress.html

www.chichiclothing.com/products/Chi-Chi-Bay-Dress.html

www.chichiclothing.com/products/Chi-Chi-Karlene-Dress.html

These are just a few examples from Chi Chi Clothing and from the wedding guest section of their website. I think spring is very pinks, pastels and light colours. Just make sure you do not go for a long dress that looks like a bridesmaid dress and do not wear anything red or anything that is white.

It also depends on the location of the wedding I suppose but most hotel venues or castles etc will be fine with these options.

flowery · 26/01/2019 18:41

If your top half is three sizes smaller than your bottom half, surely trying to find a dress is asking for trouble? Skirt and top, surely, then you can get both to fit you. A dress will never fit you properly.
