Posting for traffic!

My brother is off to Canada soon for a couple of weeks and it's going to be coooold! He needs a winter coat to survive but money is tight. Any recommendations for a good warm coat for minimal ££?

Thanks! :)

Tog 24 is good. What's the budget?

AlmostAlwyn · 26/01/2019 18:10

Less than £100. Ideally less than/around £50!

Go outdoors, buy big and take lots and lots of layers

Got my son (6ft so adult size) a padded coat which was fleece lined from sports direct for £25. It was for our trip to America where the temp was -12 and he was the one of us not suffering with the cold weather. It lasted 6 months but after a few washes wasn't so great so I replaced it with similar from the same store, think it had gone up to around £30. I'll check and see if it's on their website.

It's this one, their website seems to be down so can't link it.

Sports Direct have amazing bargains. Also the Trespass website.

For less than or around £50, there are no decent winter coats that would get anyone through the Canadian cold. Sorry but this is just personal experience.

I think I've seen a Canadian brand in TKMaxx.

Spanglybangles · 26/01/2019 20:02

I got a super cosy Geographical Norway parka coat in TK Maxx last winter. Was £70 I believe. Would probably be fine in Canada depending on where though....West probably fine, East maybe not. Although added with layers I think would be totally fine

Thanks everyone! Looks like Sports Direct have got some quite good bargains! Will also have a look in TX Maxx :)

If you're going to Canada you need a much warmer jacket than you can get in Trespass or the like for £50, I'm afraid. Last time I was there it was -30 and bitterly, bitterly cold.
