To open the dishwasher once it’s started?

If I’ve just pressed ‘start’ and it has 3 hours to run, and then I find another mug, is it ok to open the dishwasher and put it in?
I think it’s designed for this to happen, DH thinks I’m a vandal.

I’m on E7 as well but prefer not to have appliances running (except fridge and freezer) while I’m asleep so mine run between 5 and 7 am - I’m an early riser. The 35 min light dishwasher wash works well for me, and the 1 hr 40 min dryer setting. I use a weird Jeans setting on the washing machine because it’s 57 min at 30 deg and 1 hr 20 min at 40 deg, and gets clothes perfectly clean. Towels and tea towels get washed on cotton setting at 60 and 90 deg respectively, which take longer. However I run the washing machine during the daytime as the spin cycle might disturb neighbours.
Gosh I’m sure that was interesting for everyone. I’ve just finished my book so needed something to do.

Grumpy - I don't care how long it takes if I don't have to be involved.

DH uses the jeans setting and finds it good.
