Is anyone else getting spam pop ups every time they use the mumsnet site? , I can’t read threads without something popping up saying I’ve won a competition and not allowing me to read thread .

I am getting this on my phone.

Lauraelizabeth26 · 26/01/2019 12:03

Yes me too! I can only get through about two minutes on mumsnet before they pop up and I've got to clear my screen to get rid of them. This has been happening since yesterday.

ichifanny · 26/01/2019 12:20

Driving me mad it’s never been a site like that I wonder if it’s been hacked

It's a simple fix. Install an ad blocker.

Ladymargarethall · 26/01/2019 12:45

Only happens on my phone, not my tablet which is what I am using now.

ichifanny · 26/01/2019 12:52

On the iPhone @motoko

I've had this too on both my phone and tablet.
On my tablet I just press my ' back ' symbol and it gets rid of it while remaining on the page i was reading.
Extremely annoying though.

How can I have won something that I never entered a comp for ?!?!? Hmm

Motoko · 26/01/2019 13:40

Surely there are ad blockers for iphones?

showmeshoyu · 26/01/2019 14:57

These kind of popups are usually served through poisoned adverts rather than hacking the site directly.

impostersyndrome · 26/01/2019 15:03

I’ve reported to MNHQ. Meanwhile try yodating your system software. It may be a coincidence, but they’ve stopped since I did so..

impostersyndrome · 26/01/2019 15:04

Wee're really sorry to hear that you're all being plagued by annoying pop ups. We're aware of the problem and our tech and ad teams are looking into it. Hopefully we can rectify the situation asap.

For now, we're going to close this thread and direct folk to this Site Stuff thread as our ad team will be updating that one.

Thanks everyone.
