Kerry in emerdale does, it’s mentioned occasionally how she controls it/people making sure she is looking after herself etc and the effects of her not taking care of herself are shown.

NotReve · 25/01/2019 22:12

Not a TV show but check out the Dale Tribe on YouTube if they haven’t already!

Weimaragi · 25/01/2019 22:12

In real life teresa may does!! Regardless of what you think of her it goes to show it doesnt have to stop you from being a high achiever.....

HouseOfGingerbread · 25/01/2019 22:13

Katy in Coronation Street, who killed herself by drinking sugar water.

HouseOfGingerbread · 25/01/2019 22:14

Maybe not one to share!

MrsJayy · 25/01/2019 22:14

Nick jonas has type 1 child is probably a bit young to know who he is

PinkFlamingo888 · 25/01/2019 22:15

Turk in Scrubs

HouseOfGingerbread · 25/01/2019 22:19

2005 - she was played by Lucy-Jo Hudson.

The character was played by Lucy-Jo Hudson. IIRC, she murdered her dad and then killed herself. It was a long time ago as I haven’t watched any soaps for years.

HouseOfGingerbread · 25/01/2019 22:20

More helpfully perhaps, one of the star footballers in Jamie Johnson on CBBC has it. Although obviously it's all a big drama.

lisasimpsonssaxophone · 25/01/2019 22:21

There was a diabetic character in Neighbours when I was growing up. I think her name was Dani?

lisasimpsonssaxophone · 25/01/2019 22:22

Sorry I realise that’s not a very helpful answer in this situation! Turk in Scrubs is a good one though!

LostInTheColonies · 25/01/2019 22:24

DD (9) was diagnosed with Type 1 (insulin-dependent) 6 months ago; presume your friend's DD has been diagnosed with Type 1 as well. Watching with interest as I don't know of any and this would be great for her.

There is a great that she might like maybe a bit further down the line when they've started to get to grips with things.

Good luck to both your friend's dd & her family - lots to learn!

Gotstuckwiththisname · 25/01/2019 22:27

How old is the child?

Michael Corleone in The Godfather III
The girl in Panic Room
Shelby in Steel Magnolias (although not a good outcome!!)
One of the Roscoes in Hollyoaks, from memory.
Danni from Neighbours was a good storyline, although aaaaaages ago. I'm sure you could find the episodes on YouTube.

If the child is younger, I'm sure there's an episode of Hannah Montana about one of her friends being diagnosed with type 1. Can't remember much about it, but it must be on youtube.

Pibplob · 25/01/2019 22:29

Yes type 1. Sorry I should have mentioned. Is Turk in scrubs type 1? I may have a look and see if she’d like it. I can’t think of anyone currrent. I know Teresa May has it - thanks OP. 🙂. Any other famous people a child may know? X

She’s 8. Hannah Montana sounds tight up her street. Will check out the dani in neighbours storyline too.

James Norton is T1.

Tidypidy · 25/01/2019 22:32

And Steve Redgrave.

feeona123 · 25/01/2019 22:33

Probs not what your looking for but the Dr programme on CBeebies did a show about diabetes.

I recorded it for my kids as my husband is type 1.

paddyclampitt · 25/01/2019 22:36

Dillon off Jamie Johnson. I have T1D and thought it was covered really accurately.

Tell your friend to get her DC the pump ASAP - was life changing for me! :)

Tidypidy · 25/01/2019 22:38

Dr Ranj appears to have the insulin pen upside down in that clip!

Pibplob · 25/01/2019 22:39

CBeebies. Of course! Thanks! The pump? Can you tell me what this is? If it’s whatever Teresa May has inknow it’s not available in our part of the country on the nhs. 😢
