I'm just curious (nosey).
My starting weight in August was 10st 11, I am now 9st 9 and back in size 10.
But I feel like I still have a long way to go! Trying to figure out what's the average kind of weight for this height....

OP posts:

I'm only 5ft 3'', but I'm pretty sure that according to the bmi calculator I am within the normal range at under 10 stone. So at 5ft 5'', you're probably 'allowed' few more pounds over 10 stone.

I'm 9 stone 3, trying to get down to my usual 9 stone. I put on 6lbs at Christmas and finding it painfully slow to lose Angry

anotherwearytraveller · 26/01/2019 10:02

I’m 8st12 and a size 10-12 more often a 12 tho.
No boobs, long arms and legs, no waist at all (30inch) and carry on my belly and since hitting 40s also my upper hip/love handle area and inner thigh.

I always find these threads amazing how the clothes sizes work.
There are posters who weigh 1.5-2 stones more than me who are smaller dress size.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 26/01/2019 10:06

@alltheusernames I have no idea who H&M are making clothes for but I don’t know many people who can fit into most of their stuff. Generally it’s a one off jumper. None of my friends can get their jeans or trousers to fit proper and we’re a vast array of shapes and sizes. It’s bizzare!

SauvignonMum · 26/01/2019 10:06

What I mean is, you definitely don't 'have a long way to go' Shock

SauvignonMum · 26/01/2019 10:07

I think H&M finally 'fixed' their clothing sizes last year!

CantRainAllTheTime · 26/01/2019 10:11

Usually 9 stone. Pregnant so nearly 10 at the moment.

alltheusernames · 26/01/2019 10:14

@Whatelsecouldibecalled I remember being quite young, late teens maybe early 20s and being devastated I couldn't fit into a pair of skinny jeans from them that were already 1 size bigger than I used to buy and buying them as I refused to go up by 2 sizes 🙄 obviously I wouldn't be so silly now but young women who are forever told they need to be a certain size to be perfect can be vulnerable. I will be intrigued to go to see if they have improved, I managed to buy sweats that were size small before Christmas, a bit tight after Christmas though 😂 Next are the opposite in that k can go a size smaller but not sure that's terribly healthy either, when I put weight on I'd shop in Next so I could believe I was still a certain size 😂

Mabelface · 26/01/2019 10:41

10st9lbs, size 12 bottom, size 14 top due to big boobs! Whilst I could probably do with shifting a few more pounds, I look slim and I'm comfortable with how I look.

MsSuperExcited · 26/01/2019 10:42

I think Ted Baker sizes are perfect. With the right shape dress I can get a size 2 (10) and it’ll fit with a little bit of room, a size 1 would fit but would be too close for comfort.

Fat Face I buy a size 8 dress or top and still have too much room!! They’re just trying to flatter!

alltheusernames · 26/01/2019 11:05

@MsSuperExcited Fat Face is where I get most of my clothes, I find it quite unpredictable, I try everything on from there before I buy. I have Breton tops and jumpers in 8-10, I couldn't do up the zip in 8 trousers but a comfortable 10, but yet have a size 8 denim dress (albeit in the sale, a 10 would have been better if in stock!) I've even got size 14 cardigans I can get away with. It's a bit frustrating but I find it depends what kind of fit I want as its obviously largely casual and I do like a slouchy jumper but tight trousers!

It's all pointless anyway as sizes are so much bigger than they used to be but I wish there was standardisation!

Rubusfruticosus · 26/01/2019 11:24

These threads always become competitive wanna-be anorexic weigh-ins. I've counted four posts by people who would be slightly underweight, and two clearly underweight, out of over 130 posts.

BunsOfAnarchy · 26/01/2019 11:31

Usually 9st 7. At that weight my figure is fine and i stop weighing.
Currently 12st. But all is not lost. Ive lost 8lbs in 3 weeks and will keep going till i hit about 10st and then stop weighing.

BunsOfAnarchy · 26/01/2019 11:32

To add i went to 11st when 41 weeks pregnant and somehow ended up bigger than that over the months lol. Got a long way to go but hopefully will do it Grin

AlphaJuno · 26/01/2019 11:37

I'm 5' 4" and last time I weighed myself I was 9 stone 5lb. I'm 9 mths pp and still bf so bust is still massive. Lost about a stone since giving birth. Starting to feel a bit better about myself now. Previous weight was 8.5-9 stone. Size 8-10.

Permanentlydisaffected · 26/01/2019 14:36

Dancemom where do you buy your clothes? Makes such a massive difference. I'm size 6/8 at All Saints and French Connection for example but M&S size 8 would swamp me. No competitive anorexia here, I hate being so thin and wish I was healthier looking.

dancemom · 26/01/2019 15:01

@Permanentlydisaffected all over really!
Last bought 3 dresses from Primark and 2 of those were a size 4 and one was a size 8 - ridiculous!
Otherwise New Look, BooHoo, River Island, Uniqulo .... I often wear my teenage daughters items from New Look teen range too! Age 13-14 usually.

No competitive or anorexic comments here, I gym 5-6 days a week and although I have belly fat to lose and some toning to do my long term plan is to put on lean muscle so weight will definitely increase then.

Permanentlydisaffected · 26/01/2019 16:37

Yes I do a few gym classes and run too although nothing makes any difference to my weight unfortunately! Even sitting around for a week at Christmas makes not a lot of difference.

Valentine19 · 26/01/2019 16:54

Currently 9st
Ideally 8/10 but can't stop eating since Christmas and it's so cold.
I will get it off before my holidays but a bit of spare is no bad thing aged 51 stops the scraggy look.

dellacucina · 26/01/2019 16:56

46.3 kg

ashtrayheart · 26/01/2019 16:57

Just over 15 stone. I have been over 20 though... Grin

dellacucina · 26/01/2019 17:00

Ps I just saw your photo and you have a great shape, OP. A lot of people would envy your lovely defined waist

CastleCrasher · 26/01/2019 17:02

Clothes sizing really isn't an indicator of anything as its so inconsistent. I would class myself as a size 10, but wear clothes anywhere from size 6 to size 14 depending on the brand!

Mayhemmumma · 26/01/2019 17:02

5ft 4 and jealous here. I'm 12stone (and a little bit since christmas)

I can't even imagine being 9 stone or less

WhatWouldChristineCagneyDo · 26/01/2019 17:07

55kg / 8 and a half stones

Clothes sizing is little more than random numbers and I pay no attention to it. I wear what fits & shop by my actual measurements.

dancemom · 26/01/2019 17:12

@Permanentlydisaffected I did the same at Christmas and put on 10lbs 🙈
