AIBU to get annoyed about people parking in parent/baby spaces

So went shopping today. A woman parked her car in a parent and baby space but left both kids and her mum in the car with the car running..
I shook my head as it annoyed me.

She stopped the car and opened the back door showing her kids saying "if you wanna get lairy my kids are in the car"

We explained that the parking spaces are for parents with kids in the car to get the kids out.. She then said that both kids were in the car. We said also with your mum in the car too.

She then said "he didn't want to go in, what do you want me to do drag them out" we responded with "no just park in a Normal space"

AIBU to think she's out of order, and the spaces are for kids getting out of the car as you're needing extra space to get them in/out? Or am I completely missing something here?

I just love the use of the passive aggressive smiley faces on threads Grin

I say it every time on these threads: if someone's incorrectly using a P&C or disabled space, your issue is not with the driver but with the supermarket.

The supermarkets provide the spaces, so if they are not working as intended, they are the ones who need to told or even challenged to police them properly. They'll do something if they think they are going to lose custom over it.

My Grin was sarcasm, not PA

@Plasticgiraffe

Yes they can legally park anywhere including p&c spaces and p&c spaces are only a nice thing to have but come on just use your own spaces. I'd never say anything either as I'm a wimp but being 6 months pregnant with a wriggly toddler it really annoys me

You sound like the twat (already parked in a p&c bay) who had a go at me and my mum for parking in a p&c bay because all the disabled bays were full in Sainsburys. She wasn't expecting me to answer back. All I I said to her was that my mum can't walk much and has a blue badge, and the coward hid behind her husband.

Ahh well I think you should complain to the supermarket and say,

dear supermarket, please move your p&c space to as far away from the supermarket entrance as possible.

This will resolve a number of issues surrounding them, not least the fact that most lazy fuckers use them because well, they’re lazy.

I believe they should exist but mainly for young dc who you either struggle to get out the car in their car seat or those who can’t be restrained from shoving the door into the next car. There is absolutely no reason they are required at the front of the store.
...
and see what they say

Here we go again Hmm

It’s a parent and child space, she was a parent with a child.

Get over yourself and stop over investing in other people lives

I have never seen anyone in real life become confrontational about these spaces. But on MN people seem to patrol carparks waiting to catch someone without a child daring to use a P&C space.

I watched a programme on different parking problems (Hoping to see people having dramas😁)
And one as about P&C spaces. There was one mother who police's her local P&C spaces. Stopping everyone with car seats but no kids and those with children in their teen. It was funny seeing people coming up with why they were parking there. One woman said her kids were still in the shops with their dad, so she waited for them to come back!! Sad to say she was lying and shopping on her own. One thing from the programme some shops are starting to bring in fines if you're in a disabled bay without a badge or with a badge and the disabled person is at home. Also if your child isn't in a car seat age or they stay in the car and parent goes in on their own. It's being tested in certain parts of England. I'd love to see the excuses from people why they shouldn't be fined😁😁

Move all the P&C spaces to the far side of the car park. Whiny parents get the space they need and lazy fuckers dont park in the P&C spaces.... problem solved.
