Basically before Xmas my dad who's got paranoid schizophrenia got reported to benefit fraud for staying at my address a few nights a week when he was struggling with being on his own due to his mental health. Only family know my dad's address and he doesn't really mix with anyone else. He doesn't speak to anyone or have problems with anyone. My brother was made homeless about 6 months ago so my dad let him stay on his sofa until he got back on his feet. My brother took full advantage of a "free house" didn't contribute to any bills, wanted to drink etc all the time so in the end my dad had to ask him to leave. The same month someone reported my dad to benefit fraud for staying at my address. We went to a meeting and told the truth and they advised us we wasn't doing anything wrong with my dad having mental health it changes the circumstances slightly. My dads health has improved and he no longer stays at my address. I recently moved around 7 weeks ago and yesterday received the same letter my dad did few months before. Rang them up and they confirmed I have infact had someone make an allegation of benefit fraud against me and they are ringing me back on Monday for my "compliance telephone interview". With me recently moving no one appart from my family know my new address. I don't have problems with anyone. I spend all my time raising my autistic son as a single mum aswell as battling with mh problems myself. So the only people who know mine and my dad's address is my sister who I get along really well with, my dad and my brother who I had a few issues with especially regarding my dad asking him to leave his flat, my brother kinda blamed me. So aibu to suspect my brother? It's obviously someone close to me who knows my dad's and my address. I text him to tell him I have myself now had a letter from benefit fraud and he didn't seem shocked or anything. I btw am not committing benefit fraud so I don't have anything to worry about regarding that, It's just the stress and impact it has on my mh that's upsetting and now I'm paranoid to wonder what might happen next. Don't even want to doubt my own brother but I cannot think of anyone else who might of done this. Benefit fraud are calling me back on Monday and I'm going to ask them to read me the statement that was given word for word and hopefully then I can work out who it could be.
