To ask if anybody works in Tesco fruit and veg dept?

Since the recent loss of dates I am struggling with buying fresh veg. I know if it looks ok, it is ok, but I have a ridiculous need to buy the freshest product on the shelf. Before that would be the one with the longest date, but now things are marked '015' '016' etc. Can anyone tell me if the higher number is simply the newest or if there is some sort of secret formula Grin

Just want to add I am not looking for opinions goading me into justification. I am autistic and genuinely can't help this nonsense when shopping.

I don't know about Tesco, but as far as I know, in Aldi it's the higher the number the more recently the product has been produced. I think it's to do with weeks of the year but can't quite swear by it.

Day of the year...always buy the latest number you can as it's the freshest and last into store
