Mood swings, general anxiety, felt like crap and honestly thought I was going mad at times.

My period didn't return but I was told it'd be about a year. I went to the docs after a few months to see what was up.

I was 20 weeks pregnant 🙈

QueenEnid · 24/01/2019 16:06

Oh. I was on it for 12 years x

thecatsthecats · 24/01/2019 16:07

Ugh, don't.

Just tell me I'll fart rainbows and lose weight.

(same situation - coming off after 10 years!)

sola82 · 24/01/2019 16:12

I didn't have any issues when I came off after 7 years to TTC. I had a period 4 weeks after stopping and was pregnant 4 weeks later.

Newmrs22 · 24/01/2019 16:15

No issues here either. Had a bleed couple of weeks after stopping, then got pregnant. No real side effects that I know of.

I realise you might not be aiming to get pregnant, so if not use a back up method! You hear a lot of horror stories about fertility taking ages to return after stopping the pill, but it's not always the case!

Justanothernamechange2 · 24/01/2019 16:35

Thanks for the replies! Doesnt seem as bad as i expected then.

It was my DR who has recommended i come off. Having some odd symptoms that are usually associated with starting the pill, but obviously ive been on it for 10years so he wants to check over my hormone levels im 4 weeks.

Looking to conceive around summer (i know its not that easy, i mean start to try) after my probation period in my new job so will be sure to use other contraception methods!!

It was my DR that said "coming off it might not be easy or fun" so i did the dreaded google and then thought id check in here for actual experience!

Same here! Stopped two months ago, still no period, but agonisingly sore boobs, bitchiness, fatigue... such fun!

Liverbird77 · 24/01/2019 16:38

I was in it for four years. Came off and got first bleed after 27 days, then regular periods every 27 days after that. Took 8 months to conceive.

Tohaveandtohold · 24/01/2019 16:43

I was on it for 5 years and had no periods. I came off it and got my period 28 days after and it was regular, 28 days after. I got pregnant after actively TTC for 4 months.

jcq17 · 24/01/2019 16:45

Going in the opposite direction I came off cerazette end of August found out I was pregnant in November. No dodgy symptoms 2 simple periods in that time (I also haven't had periods in the 7 years I was on cerazette)

It's not all bad!

Caterinaballerina · 24/01/2019 17:16

No problems with coming off in terms of periods returning and able to conceive but both times I stopped taking it I got a patch of hair loss, luckily not in obvious places you could see.

Ninoo25 · 24/01/2019 19:36

Pregnancy!

45andahalf · 24/01/2019 19:46

My mental health improved massively. My hair got really thin though.

45andahalf · 24/01/2019 19:48

Oh and my periods are still irregular 2 years later. But to be fair, I’m 40 so perimenopause isn’t impossible. Last time I stopped taking it, my periods came back straightaway, regular as clockwork, and I conceived DS witching 4 months.

Justanothernamechange2 · 25/01/2019 10:11

Thanks for all the responses. Must go buy condoms today - not in a position to conceive until ive been in this job for 6months.
Interesting you all saying periods returned around 4 weeks later, im super paranoid about being caught off guard for that first one in a decade!
